If the child was 10 and the other child was 12...yes they can be left in a car without me calling the cops.

i thought one had to be at *least* 13 years old.. to make it not-reportable?

I thought it was 14... Chat Icon

The only reason I think this, is because working in the daycare.... we can cut it off at 13/14 because there allowed to legally be left alone!

Re: mens rooms

I think this was a good post.It got offtopic a bit but that was good too. it was def a good post to see everyones views on a situation like this.
like Donna said some of us are not parents so we are basing our decisions on what we think "now" we would do, and its not a bad thing. Hey if I saw a kid that looked under 8 in a car unattended- and what is the law now 45 lbs and under has to be in a car seat, that is a NO NO. but there are 10 yr olds that are mature for that age. especially with what kids are exposed to this day and age, and the hormones in meat and produce did you guys know that many young girls are going through their second stages of puberty ? my obgyn told me this, we were talking about ages of menstrual cycles.

What does being mature of imature have anything to do with leaving a kid unatended in a car?
My son is good.. if I told him to sit and not touch anything he would.. how does that stop a crazy person from aproaching them?
Are all kids that are abducted immature?

My exact point!

WI would be in and out I would trust her. you know a lil trust here and there goes along way when they get into their teens too . remember that.

Again- its not about trusting her.... its about trusting the sickos in this world!

Im not saying not to be blinded by the sickos but you cant live your life even for your kids like oh no the sicko is gonna get us- you sound like the mom that wont let thier 17 yr old even get thier permit b/c you have to watch out for the other guy-

Sorry, NO WAY!
I agree a parent has responsibilities to their children but if a criminal conducts a criminal act ...IT IS THE CRIMINALS FAULT!

Re: mens rooms

But thats where parents differ..
I DO live my life to protect my children.. when they grow up and are on there own I will STILL worry about them.. but obviously there is a time to let go..
I dont feel that age is at 10.

Re: mens rooms

Well guess what, I sound like the mom who cares about thier child, and would rather be safe than sorry!

Like someone said... If you choose to leave your child in the car unattended.... its YOUR FAULT...and you'll have to live with that forever!

If something happened to my son, I could at least sit back and say I did EVERYTHING I could from keeping him in harms way...which is more than you'll be able to say!

Thats true bbut the parent might have to live with the fact that maybe if they had just not left them alone those 5 minutes it wouldnt of happened.

Both are at fault.... If your child is abducted from your car, when you could of easily, brought them in with you and prevented it, makes you just as responsible...Im sorry!

Who cares who is criminally at falt....Being NOT criminally at fault is going to make you feel better when your child is abducted Chat Icon

ETA- In the law you wouldnt be respnsible for the theift but you might be called criminally negligent.

leaving a mature- and you would know if your child is mature enough to understand safety dont touch the gears, dont unlock the door for anyone - 10 yr old for 5 minutes, yes Im going to continue to repeat myself because you guys arent making sense- ok how old is ok to leave alone in the car? 13 14 and what if they have a mind of an 8 yr old? or not mature? and how do you stop a crazy person from knocking on your door- locked door, ding dong, your kid answers the door- and something can happen?

That would be adressing guilt...not fault.

I dont think you get it!!!!!!

YOU MUST PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN!!!!!
so that means realizing this world isnt sugar and spice and everything nice

ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE ANYTIME
so trying your best to prevent bad things happening to your child is your job as the parent

I wouldnt allow my children to play out in the front yard without my supervision, or leave them alone in the car,or let them wait outside while I use the bathroom and I am sure a lot of other things I wont let them do unsupervised because its my job to PROTECT THEM

whatever the law could "punish" me with, would be NOTHING compared to the guilt i would feel. So, honestly, i dont feel at ease that i wasnt the 'criminal'. Again, there are laws against leaving a child Unattended.

and if your child was taken from your front lawn, thats your fault- there is no difference when it comes to safety issues here. and I guess they would have to hot wire it too if I took the keys huh? Chat Icon
