Milk Free Diet Anyone?

As per the GI specialist we are going to see I have to start a milk free diet to see if this helps with the reflux.

What do you eat?
Have you found anything with hidden milk in it that you can't have anymore?

I was really hoping it wouldn't come to this but I am not willing to give up breastfeeding so I'll do what it takes.

Re: Milk Free Diet Anyone?

Looks like a lot of us are on this diet! I have just started and Emilain and Lobster have been mentoring me. I too am always looking for what TO eat as well as what NOT to eat. Lets keep eachother in the loop when we find something. We should have our own little chat room for support Chat Icon or maybe we should just post it outright....

GOOD LUCK!!!

Editted to add: I ordered this book called the Milk Soy Protein Intolerance Guidebook. Haven't gotten it yet but will let you all know if it is any good. Anyone else have it? I also signed up for their e-mail newsletters.

I was thinking I'll need to get rice milk to use in pancakes and french toast. I don't know if I'll be able to stomach it for cereal.

How about snacks? I feel like everything has hidden milk in it. Like I had some FF Kettle Corn today and then figured that was probably a no no.

Any good recipes or recipe sites?

"Yes I am! Today I ate eggs and bacon on a roll from a deli and Bryan was throwing up all day and had mucousy poop- maybe it was because cheese is used on the same grill as the eggs? Im going crazy over here!

Thanks for those snacks. I'll be going to the store tomorrow.
I wish I lived in NY still because I would definitely be interested.
Maybe I could get a transcript. Chat Icon Chat Icon

How is Friday for everyone?? Or do we need to make it a weekend?

I found this on foodallergy.org
"Do these ingredients contain milk? We frequently get calls about the following ingredients. They do not contain milk protein and need not be restricted by someone avoiding milk: Calcium lactate, Lactic acid (however, lactic acid starter culture may contain milk) ,Calcium stearoyl lactylate, oleoresin, Cocoa butter, Sodium lactate, Cream of tartar, Sodium stearoyl lactylate

Sodium stearoyl lactylate is in all the breads I've been trying to buy...like hot dog and burger buns and I have been avoiding. I guess this means I can eat those??? And the sodium lactate is in my hot dogs that i have been dying to eat (hebrew national). But i still can't have those cause i am avoiding soy as well.
