I think you have to follow your dreams.
You are so miserable at this job and it sound like you love teaching.
If it were me, I would call in sick again, go to the observation and deal with the consequences on Wednesday.
Is there any way you can be up front with her and negotiate an end date concurrent with your teaching schedule???

Jen - are you going to be able to sub in the fall? If that's the case and you are really miserable and truly don't care - then I'd call in and deal on Wed. If she continues to be that miserable to you - I'd prob just quit and sub in the fall then. Good luck!

Call in sick and dont give it a second thought. If the situation were reversed i am sure your boss (who sounds terrible by the way) would do the same to you. I am like you and feel so guilty calling in sick, but people do it all the time and dont even think twice. Good luck on your observation tomorrow!

Thank you guys....I am sitting here in tears because I don't know what to do.
I am going to talk to my DH again...he is really opposed to me subbing b/c of the $$ cut - but I don't know what else to do.

You can always make extra $$ by tutoring on the side! Put up notes at the schools where you sub and post ads on craigslist.
Since the school only needs you from 8-11 can you call in and say you are just going to be late and be in by 12? You can say you have a Drs Appt.

I know the feeling of being truly miserable at my job, that used to be me. If the boss fires you take the 6 months unemployment but I doubt you will get fired for two days. I would definitley go to the school tommorrow...i think the dr's appt is a good idea cause then you can go in for the afternoon and it wont be so harsh on wednesday. As for the PW, no way would I give it out to anyone Good luck!!

I am new but can maybe offer some
As far as teaching, if this is your passion, follow it.
As someone else posted, you can sub definitely in the fall if this does not work and if your work thing becomes too much.

I say go for it. Call in or you'll regret it. Yes, you'll probably feel guilty for calling in, but you'd feel a lot worse not going for this and asking yourself "what if?" until another opportunity presents itself. Good luck!
