Just got back from 5 open houses
these sellers have A LOT of nerve listing SLUMS at insane prices.
on the positive side, every house had a sign in sheet and there was none or 1 name aside from ours  I hope they sit on the market and rot

I am so sorry- We had many a Sunday like this- especially one neighborhood we were looking in- we started just laughing at these houses and the rediculous prices these idiots wanted.

But girl, try and be positive!! Don't wish anyone else ill will (even if online!  ) because you need good energy...karma baby...put out good thoughts...it ain't for you...keep it moving. Yours is out there!!

When we went to our walk through today, the Real estate agent said that Remax is actually not doing open houses anymore except for on a house new to the market. She was saying its been such a waste right now that the agents are sitting there and no one is buying or even coming.

my Dad called his agent to see if there was anything he could do- and she said the market is so slow right now- she has been barley getting any calls-

I understand completely. We ran over to three open houses in between a million things to do this weekend. This time around wasn't so bad because I had planned on these three - saw the insides online and such - but nothing came of them. There was one house we went to that was outside of our price range - it was gorgeous and worth the stretch in my opinion but it was in a bad location.  Seems like nothing is working out right now.

Holbrook, Bohemia, Sayville. I think we're ready to scratch Bohemia & Sayville off the list. we clearly cannot afford anything more than a dump in those 2 towns.

we saw 1 on Saturday (not an open house, our realtor took us there). it was a beautiful house, but of couse, too much $$ and not the area that we love. I am still trying to convince DH that we should make a low offer.

the house was on the market for almost 2 years now - with a few different brokers
It is a 5 bedroom - double dormered levitt cape with an extended kitchen and jacuzzi tub. They were originally asking $500k, and they are now at $455k. They need to bring the house down to $425k, and then I think they will get some interest.
It needs some work but it is clean and in move in conidition....Its a quiet block filled with great neighbors....Hopefully someone will buy it soon....but I doubt it lol

If a house has been on the market for 2 years, there is something VERY wrong with the price. Regardless of anyone’s expert opinion, the buyers have to feel that it’s worth it.

Why not make an offer? The market has definitely turned. Is the house vacant? Tons of houses have been sitting on the market for months and months. It's a buyer's market right now. Many sellers would welcome *any* offer at this point.
We're in the process of deciding if/when we should move, but I know that if my house isn't priced to sell, I could end up carrying 2 mortgages.

That house has absolutely zero curb-appeal. I would be surprised if they close for anything over $410K. Keep me posted.

There's a reasonable seller out there somewhere. IMO, someone needs to smack their realtors upside the head. They need to give their sellers a reality check.

OMG thats what all the neighbors on the block say...It is sooo blah in the front. They recently planted plants but its all green and no color...They need some flowers....Spend a few hundred dollars and go to cheap sams....Buy some pretty bushes and Flowerd to spruce up the exterior of the house - Paint the inside room some golds, sage green.....warm colors...The entire house is white....Clean out all the clutter.....
And possibly it will sell....

Wrecking ball? Are you kidding. Its not that bad - You should of saw this other house on my block. It was a rental for 25 years. It sold for $369k and the guy that bought it is flipping it. I have no idea what he is going to be able to sell it for...It is beautiful now though
