he has phenomia (sp), he's 89, my aunt lives my granparents and he just said he wasnt feeling good> how does a 89 male who doesnt go out at all!!!!!! just sits and watches TV get phenomonia?

he was scheduled for a anurism surgery in his stomach on Feb 9th - thats another story - but iguess that will be put off again!!!
Sorry about your grandpa.....and a speedy recovery! Just so you know, pneumonia is pretty common in the elderly. Mainly, because they don't take too many deep breaths and tend to breathe shallow. This causes the lower part of the lungs to not fill with air--and what is there, whether it is fluid or mucus (which is there naturally-sorry if TMI) just sort of sits there.....causing pneumonia. This is the same reason why they make you take deep breaths after surgery-to prevent pneumonia cause when you are in pain from surgery you tend to not take deep breaths.
