deb and everyone else who thinks breeders ONLY do it for teh money.........
Again...you miss my points...my argument to you was that you were making a sweeping generaliztion that NO breeders do it for the money and I made a point to say that I personally know breeders who say that the money has SOMETHING to do with it (not everything). Honestly, learn how to read and learn how to have an intelligent discussion.

good, i see i did my job is done. i won't lose my mind today
i can see if eBay had some offical progrom where licensed or offical breeders could come in and sell. just like anything else in ebay, there is a scam and pepole that rip people off in the world.

Just for the record I am not for it. But wanted to discuss the pro's and con's about why it SHOULDN'T happen. At what point did I ever state it was a good idea and I was for it?

i just think its sad that people are actually FOR the selling of pets on eBay!
I think if more people saw the inhumane treatment that some of these stores do to these animals more often ... then there would be less jess
I just went to the store in the rooservelt field mall on sat and i wanted to cry
I couldn't agree more. It's not even the pet stores so much as where they buy their puppies from. These poor puppies are shipped like cargo in planes and about half don't make it. Right now, they aren't suppose to be shipping any puppies by planes because of the weather, so I'm wondering how they are getting here? Days and Days in the back of an unheated truck?
I know....

Re: eBay to sell LIVE animals-----
jess, I understand your passion for breeding and the fact that reputable breeders do so to better the breed but when breeding (even reputably) you often get quite a few dogs from each litter that are not show quality and these "reputable" breeders sell these pet quality dogs for a profit. So yes even reputable breeders do make money from the breeding as well as doing it for betterment of the breed.
I think you often have a lot to say about breeding but you dont always seem to provide the whole truth about the issue. You oinly seem to supply the info that will benefit your argument.

youre right they often get pet quality pups.... but they sell them for ALOT less.
ther is show quality prices and pet quality prices. ive never lied about that.
also, i never said they DONT make a profit, but reputable i said dont DO IT FOR the profit.

Re: eBay to sell LIVE animals-----
first of all...i didnt say you lied I just simply stated that you choose to only share the information that will benefit you in an argument instead of providing all the facts.
secondly, when you defend yourself you get so hostile, bitter and childish to everyone, you would be much more effective in conveying your point if you did so intellectually but you often loss sight of that and quickly jump to the defense.
thirdly, the difference in prices are not that significant and what ensures that the new owner of these show quality dogs will breed them and have offsprings that are show quality. The fact of the matter is in the whole breeding process more puppies end up being pet quailty that show quality so what are the breeders to do witht he non show quality dogs. Leave them out on the street...NOPE sell them for a profit

Well, on a pet forum, you have many like-minded individuals who go to that forum specifically for causes like this.
This is a broader based forum that has a lot of different views on pets and what is right or wrong.
I respect the fact that you care so much about animals, but you seem very close minded to any other views but your own on some topics.

Re: eBay to sell LIVE animals-----
I don't see what the big deal is.
We live in a capitalistic society. Making money is a way of life.
Selling on ebay is NO DIFFERENT than buying a pet in a pet store... or through craigslist online... or through any other pet buying site.
I don't care how people want to "sugar coat" this... its all the same in the end.
And as far as ebay buying means "you don't know what you will be getting"... thats a load of horseshyt.
Since its obvious you can't ship a pet... these ebay deals must be done locally. MOST local ebay deals don't happen anyways until you go out and inspect the merchandise beforehand.
Its like buying a car on ebay. I theoretically found my Audi on ebay. It was listed by a connecticut seller. BEFORE bidding... i went up there to inspect the car... and then decided to buy it on the spot.
This is no different.

Re: eBay to sell LIVE animals-----
Dj..... Yes, you can most certainly ship a pet
eta: youre right.... buying a pet off of eBay is no different than buying from a pet shop. ITA
i am just saying it isnt teh smae as buying from a reputable breeder.
but a pet shop? yes, same thing. only difference is you dont meet hte pup til its shipped to you.
