Do you tell your parents EVERYTHING about your inlaws?

My parents only have very limited information on my inlaws. If DH wants to tell them about them, then he can, but I feel it isn't my place. I hate that DH comes from these people, and I hate even more that they are going to be related to my kids. My parents have no idea of the specifics and things that ILs have done.

Sometimes I am tempted to tell my mother, only because she thinks I am too hard on my MIL. But even though they are my ILS, I feel like it is DH's business.

I think it is sad that my kids will have 2 totally seperate families. My 4 grandparents all knew each other. DH and I have been together for 11 years, and none of my family has ever met my FIL.

My parents only know the most basic things- how many brothers he has, where they are from, what area they live in, stuff like that. I agree with you, if FH wants to tell them anything else, its up to him.

I can sympathize with you...I too, have issues with my in-laws. I would not dare tell my parents everything (although I have mentioned some of it) because I fear that they would think less of my DH.

Seriously Janice, our lives are so similar it's scary. Our families are so different, my mom and his parents just met like two years ago.
They always try to meet but it has to be on their terms.
It's a pita especially for Alia but we gave up trying to make them meet and somewhat have a normal relationship. I don't tell anything to my mom, some things are better left unsaid. They are great people and I love them but our families are just too different and unfortunately both have many stereotypes about each other.

Yes!!!! Every single thing that pi$$es me off about them...I tell my parents. They have been there to give me advice about what to do in certain situations.

I guess I'm the only one...

Yes. I tell my parents EVERYTHIGN. If I didn't then JT would have to hear about everything, and since it's his parents, it's not fair of me to vent everything to him.

Well my mom knows my MIL well so we love to exchange wacky stories about her!

My MIL mostly get along but the few minor issues we have had I never share with my mother, though I do tell my sister.

I don't tell them everything, mostly general stuff. MIL was hospitalized last year and my mom sent a get well card. If my mom knew all the fighting among siblings and with their dad she'd

I know DH would be mad/embarrassed if I told my mom EVERYTHING, so I don't.

I tell my mom everythig,,,even the crazy stuff DH's wacked out sisters do! My ILs are great people just very different from us....small town folks.

I tell my parents pretty much everything! Then again, my parents and my inlaws became very good friends, so, sometimes they know stuff before me!

Stephanie, I am with you on this. I tell my mom everything about my ILs. actually, DH tells my mom all about his family too. He needs someplace to vent and let it all out and he thinks my mom is the perfect person to tell it all to.

I tell my mother EVERYTHING that goes on especially when it comes to my in-laws, especially my MIL

I don't like venting or complaining about my MIL to my husband, I have to remember that I wouldn't want him complaing to me about MY mother so I wouldn't want to do that to him.

Luckily, my MIL isn't THAT bad....BUT my mom hears every gory detail!!!

No way Stephanie...I tell my Mom EVERYTHING. Maybe that's not right but I need some forum to vent to. She can't stand them either so I don't feel like she's looking at me like when I tell her stuff. She had crappy inlaws too, so she can definitely relate.

I do, but they are also close with each other so my Mom knows it in a way already....

ETA: it gives me a place to vent about them if I need to, b/c I don't want to say anything to my DH that may hurt or upset him about his family

I have to tell my mother. She went through the same crap with her in laws. I really just need to vent and my mom is there, and in times past when FH didn't always stand up for me and tke my side I knew my mom would always support me

ETA...even when 3 of his cousins didn't show up the my bridal shower...my DH b!tched about it more than me

Im right there with you Stef... maybe not my dad... but my mom I tell EVERYTHING too... so they includes all the gossip on my crazy MIL

I tell my parents stuff about my ILs but it's just basically all the crazy stuff they do, well, more so what my MIL does. She's a good hearted person and she means well, but she has a few screws loose. The good thing is that my DH agrees that his own mother is a little cuckoo.
