Ignore this - thought it was on the Home board for bumping up
I am posting this here bc it gets more traffic than the Home board. My DH and I painted our bathroom a purple...it wasn't the color we wanted -- the bathroom looked like a big old Easter Egg.
I am trying to tone it down now by sponge painting a lighter lavender. I have attached pix of before the sponging - and what I started to do. What do you think looks better?
Should we just paint the whole thing over all together?

I like the sponge paint idea. However, is it as light as YOU want it? If, not I would paint it over, JMO.

I don't think the color is that offensive, but if you're unhappy with it then I'd say paint the whole thing over (but that's because I'm not a big fan of sponging at all.)

I don't really like the sponge paint. It looks like something splattered on the wall. Even though, you think it looks "easter eggy", I think the purple is nice. It takes some getting used to.

The pics are REALLY not showing what the plain purple looks like. I don't know what to do. I may just continue the sponging (since I already started) and then if we hate that we will re-paint it this weekend.
This is why I need to hire an interior designer!!!!!

I honestly don't think the purple is that bad!! Maybe I need to see it in person.
The sponging looks like it is coming out nice. Finish the sponging and then decide. You don't like the plain purple, so either way you are going to have to repaint the room.

If you're unsure about it then you should probably just repaint... I did the same thing with our bedroom and everytime I looked at it it just BUGGED me... eventually I just painted over it and I was happy

Plain purple and you could accesorize that color with eggplant purple and gold too. I would also go with rich magohany furniture too, you have a unique PLAIN purple that is a real good color!!!! Im not a fan of sponge painting, it doesnt have that clean cut look. You are doing a great job at it though but not sure if thats the look you are going for, especially in a bathroom. good luck

I don't think its bad... I say you leave it... maybe just sponge it around the sink area....
and if you decide you dont like it... then repaint it a few months later.

Please...do me a favor...don't waste your time sponging the walls. It doesn't flatter any color, wall or room.
You're better off just picking out a new color. If you don't like what's on the walls now, sponge painting isn't going to help it.

I think I wanted a lighter color - kind of like the one I am sponging which is why I thought it would be good to tone it down with that color. Painting is such a b*tch.

DD - you know me.. I love the purple the first time..lol don't love the sponge though... to be honest.. I'm just not a sponge person.
is that downstairs bathroom? what did you end up doing upstairs?
RE-PAINT if you don't like the purple. I'm all about greens lately... like a sage?

what brand did you use, I have here 3 purples from Benjamin moore they are summer solstice, purple mist and field of heather I am going to see if I can find in on the website to show you the colors, I have the brochures here at home. brb Image Attachment(s):
