Re: DS won't sleep during the day or night...

Is him sleeping in our bed contributing to this problem...

I mean i'm not the only whose baby sleeps in their bed right?

I would try feeding him more often. DS is 4 months and eats 6 ounces every 3 - 3.5 hours. I also try to burp him at least once during the bottle and once after. We also try to give him a couple minutes break during the bottle to let the food settle just by holding him upright. After DS eats, we change him and then have playtime. He spends some time on his gym, tummy time and on his bouncy seat (with us giving him toys).

He usually plays about 1 to 2 hours then begins to get tired. He then goes down for a 30 - 60 minute nap and the we start the routine over again.

In the morning, he goes down for a 1-2 hour nap. DS is 4 months and is sleeping about 8-9 hours a night.

This is just a suggestion that works for us. He is pretty much adjusted to it and is much happier.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. I'd be glad to try and help.

He has the ocean wonders gym i'll have to give that a try but it has to be pu together...

Maybe he needs more stimulation when awake....my DD has been on this playgym since day one and I make sure she is stimulated when awake

Does she stay there by herself and play. DS hasn't shown any interest in playing with objects yet...

In the beginning no...I would sit with her. Now I sit her in my lap and show her pictures, toys, blocks, etc, look in mirror, read stories, go for walks...whatever to keep her attention

Re: DS won't sleep during the day or night...

I really do not think your son needs to have a sleep evaluation. A four hour stretch of sleep is very good for a three month old! I would suggest you take advantage of that stretch and get some sleep. A stressed out mommy= a stressed out baby.
As for playing with a baby, they may not look like they are doing much or seem like they're interested, but they are taking EVERYTHING in and studying everything. That stimulation alone will tire DS out.
Do you ever let DS nap on his stomache? I know it can be nerve-racking to let them do that, but if you try with naps, you may see that he sleeps better. As soon as Ava started to belly sleep, she would sleep through the night. Just a suggestion.

Re: DS won't sleep during the day or night...

One thing that I have done from day one as hard as it was for me because I was a new mom, but when ds woke up in the middle of the night it was all business. I changed his diaper warmed his bottle and put him back down. I made no eye contact or said a word to him and in the beginning this routine took an hour by 6 weeks it only took about 40 minutes. DH was never and still 5 months later not able to put him to sleep because he stimulates him to much by talking to him for naptime and sleeptime. I use to worry about a schedule but I gave up and just went with the flow. Up until 3.5 months DS would eat every 2 hours and eat 5-6 ounces. At 8 weeks old I also started putting him to bed earlier so maybe try that. I noticed that he would wake up at the same time like clockwork didnt matter what time he went to bed. Being a mom is definitly hard work and everytime you think you got it they do something that changes it. Babies are ever changing! Good Luck! I will get better and even if you cant sleep when he sleeps at least try to relax.
