I bring my 2 cats to the Animal Medical Center - they are EXCELLENT!!!! What vet is treating your cat?? They saved my little girls life 2 years ago and we are forever grateful.

I think the name of the doctor is Dr. Wehausen...
the center was recommended by our vet, glad I took her there...
I am still waiting for them to call...

I hope everything is okay with her...she is beautiful. It's very scary, but they do these surgeries all the time, so she should be okay. At least they found something...that's most important.

oh no problem, I have 2 dogs and 5 cats and my Churchill has been in the hospital twice, the first time is after he was neutered he caught Feline Distemper from the cat next to him, I was so mad they put him next to him, and Church went down to 4 lbs. I thought he was gonna die, 3 weeks later he came home and not until recently 3 yrs later he was back in for eating fishing line.the vet bills, but they are sooooooo worth it. Im sure the vet would work out payments if you had too.

the surgeon just called, she said Speedy seems fine, she had a huge hairball (of all things) stuck in her intestines... they took it out and for now she has a feeding tube in her stomach... they will call me back tomorrow morning to let me know when we can take her home... they took a sample too for biopsy cause her intestines were a little bit enlarged but the doctor said it is most likely because of the hair being stuck and causing inflammation...
anyways, I feel better and hopefully she will be home soon...

awwwwwwww thank goodness!!!!! A hairball? wow, I know my kittys ball of fishing line looked like a hair ball too but it felt way too hard so I inspected it and wallah- fishing line! I wonder if there was something else wrapped with the hair, I would ask. But thank goodness she will be fine!

thanks for the hugs everyone... I am going to visit Speedy at 3pm, the doctor called and said she looks much better and is walking around... if she starts eating, we should be able to take her home tomorrow...

so we went to see Speedy yesterday, at first she seemed very distant but then started purring for us... when I asked her if she was hungry she would try to get up, so it means that she is actually getting her appetite back... she has all these tubes sticking out of her and collar around her neck so I am sure she is pretty uncomfortable... I just want to take her home, it was so hard to leave her there

I havent checked this board since last week, so I had NO Idea how sick your Speedy had become!! I didn't realize you had to have Speedy hospitalized I feel soooo bad

I am so sorry to hear that you and your kitty have been through SO much, but I hope Speedy is on her way onto feeling much much better .. so glad to hear it all worked out!

I wish Speedy a very fast recovery! It sounds like she is in great hands, is doing much better, and I'm sure she will be home soon! (I have two cats and have been through hospitalization with both of them. I totally understand how absolutely heart breaking it is when your pet is sick and when you need to leave them at the vet's.) I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers!

Speedy is home we brought her last night, she is sore and probably in pain... she still has a tube in her stomach and I have to flush it with water 2X a day... I have some pain medication for her but it is so hard to give it to her... finally I got her to swallow a piece of a pain medication and after a while she seemed more comfortable, she even ate a little and she pooped (I know tmi) we have to watch her so she doesnt jump around a lot and when I am not at home I have to put Elizabethan collar on her so she doesnt chew on her stitches... in 2 weeks we going back to get the tube out of her stomach...
anyways, thanks everyone for hugs, looks like Speedy is on her way to speedy recovery....

AWWWWWWWWWWWWW, poor Speedy, yea she will be in some pain, my vet said that is one of the hardest recovery surgeries, but she will be fine!!!!

Aww poor Speedy... what a tough road she has had, and what a recovery... BUT I am so happy she is comfortable and at home, and I hope she is back to herself in no time!
