Re: skin cancer
My mother and grandmother have both had skin cancer. My mother had basal cell carcinoma, she's a redhead, green eyes, with super fair skin. My grandmother had a melanoma removed from her back, she is also is very fair, blue eyes.. They both found out by going for their 6 month screening at the dermatologist.
I get screened regularly, and I'm fine, however, I got my fathers coloring, which is medium but tanable
I'm Irish, English, Dutch (mom side) and Russian, Irish (dad side)
I love the sun, tanning and laying out whenever I can....I usually wear 8spf but I am more careful nowadays...

Re: skin cancer
I have fair skin and burn easily. I had something removed about 15 years ago that was pre-cancerous. My father and grandmother (dad's mom) have had several things removed that were pre-cancerous or possibly skin cancer. My grandmother has very fair skin, but my dad doesn't. My great grandmother (mom's side) died of melanoma. I used to get screened regularly, but now I just check myself to see if I have any raised or irregularly shaped beauty marks/moles. I wear spf 15 on my body (and reapply several times if I'm at the beach) and spf 30 or 45 on my face.
