How many houses are on your block?? That is just insane!

Block parties put people in such an awkward position - you almost have no choice in the matter, otherwise you'll be the "difficult" neighbor Chat Icon

Exactly. Our block is very long... There are 204 houses. BUT im not sure where they are closing the street from im thinking not that many houses are going to participating.

Re: So remember my block party saga

My parents had a block party about a month ago and I think they had to pay $50.

It included a cotton candy machine that was there for an hour and no one knew it was there.

A blow up jumping thing
A DJ
A blow up slide (I think a neighbor paid for it on his own)

I would totally ask her where the cut-off is and where the $$ is going! How do you stop people who didn't pay from the other side of the block from joining in? (Can you tell I'm not a huge fan of block parties Chat Icon )

This is pretty much what my DH just said... He said what if we didn't pay? Its my house and the block is closed so if I want to put my stuff out in the street I can! UGH men... I don't want to be the bad neighbors!

I'm sorry no way would I pay that. Flat out tell her the only service on the list that is usable by you is for a DJ and that is not enough for you to be paying $125 That is insaneChat Icon

Re: So remember my block party saga

Our block party was this past weekend. The price per house was $123, my block only does it every other year because it is expensive. The person who ran it gave us list of everything we got for how long and how much it cost. Everyone we invited had a great time.

Re: So remember my block party saga

$112 is outrageous! Especially when there's so many houses. You would think they'd have a bit more adult-orientated entertainment, especially for the price they're making you pay. I'd be furious!

Our block party cost us $135 per house. It had a bounce house for the kids for two hours, a dunk tank for two hours and a DJ. Only a 7 houses particpated.

See, that makes much more sense to me than $112 for over 200 houses. Especially since there doesn't seem to be THAT much on the list of activities...where's the rest of that money going? Chat Icon

Juney...seriously that is cr@p! I have never heard of a block party that is so much $$ and offers so little! but unless you cancel your guests and go out, or stay prisoner in your home I guess you don't have much of a choice

Re: So remember my block party saga

I don't think for that price that all 200 houses are participating. I would ask the person who is running it. We had 12 houses participate.
