Really, the deciding factor would really be content. Go to both websites, check out the channel guides and make your decision from there.

Good luck!

The problem though... is looking at the channel guides really doesn't tell the whole story.

I actually have both that I listen to on a more than regular basis. I listen to my buddy's Sirius account through the web.

I also have my two XM subscriptions that I pay for.

Both services have pretty much the same channel list... what you will find on one... you will find on the other.

But listening to Sirius... I just find it EXTREMELY repetitive. Its too "FM" for my taste. I can't really explain it.

Maybe because I am a music buff as this is what I do for a living so I will notice things other people won't.

But for me... the whole point of going Satellite was to get away from FM Radio... and I find Sirius to be more or less a carbon copy of FM. The XM channels have much deeper playlists.

Like the 80s channel for example. It doesn't just play the same bubble gum 80s music over and over like Cyndi Lauper, New Order, etc. It actually gets much deeper... plays more stuff you wouldn't think of. And when the songs comes on its like "Holy... i haven't heard this song in ages...".

Re: So, let's talk Satellite Radio

honestly I have been listening to Sirius since Anthony got it, and I dont find it repetitive whatsoeverChat Icon

And there are things that I have heard on the "hair nation" channel or the 80s rock channel that I have not heard in FOREVER (and Ant is a huge old metal fan and he knows a lot of stuff.. there was a song on there yesterday that he honestly had never heard of! Chat Icon)

Good luck with your decision Don Chat Icon :

Re: So, let's talk Satellite Radio

We started with XM for the house and Rich just got the car kit. He installed it himself (both units) and we have the SkyFi2 receiver unit.

We've NEVER had an issue with signal and I like the choice of channels.

The music channels on DirectTV are now XM channels, so you can take it for a "test drive".

The car kit was $50 and I forget how much the monthly service is...maybe $14 a month?

Re: So, let's talk Satellite Radio

I hear ya. I thought Sirius was real cool when I first started listening to it and I didn't think it would be an issue.

But after a period of time (about 3 months)... it just doesn't do it for me anymore as I was getting sick of the same stuff over and over.

But i'll still listen to Sirius every now and then to get a different format. But its not something I would be able to listen to on a daily basis.
