Nah, it's not the advil. I've taken it without any problems before.
I took it forever, then, bam 2 years ago, problems started.

Nicole i am sorry you are hurting with this rash that you have try some benaydral or cortizone itch cream . i hope you feel better soon and the rash goes away before you take your pics on sat!here are some hugs.

this may be too personal, but your on bc pills right? did you switch recently? i know a lot of docs put patients on bc b/c it does something to your skin.

you know my DH's aunt has had some sort of rash or hives and they appear anywhere and the doctors have no clue what it is, she too has changed NOTHING and it started around thanksgiving, the only thing the drs can think it is , is from stress but no meds and no real diagnosis. Good Luck and I hope you get some answers!!

Is there any way it could be anxiety? Long shot, yeah..... but I get broken blood vessels and hives sometimes from it.
In anycase, I hope it clears up soon!

Did they biopsy it for you?
Sorry that you are so uncomfortable. I had a rash for about a year that they could never figure out. Then it just disappeared.

When I was in college I developed something similar, ot was under my eyes and around my mouth.
The Dr. called it PERIORAL Dermatitis and prescribed something called METROGEL (Metronidazole) by Galderma. It was 7 years ago, but I remember because it was a burning and itchy feeling. It was quite painful, not to mention somewhat embarrassing. But it did go away.

Nic, I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. I know how frustrating it is. From October 2003 through July 2004 (including the day of my wedding), I had chronic hives and facial swelling, where my lips were about 5x their normal size. There was no rhyme or reason or pattern to it, and even with going to an allergist, we never figured out a physical cause for it. I tried going off of advil b/c it causes hives and facial swelling, and it didn't work. In the end, I attributed it to stress, b/c they went away halfway through my honeymoon and I only have had an occasional hive since. I wasn't feeling stressed, but it is very possible to psychologically transfer stress throughout your body. In all honesty, I would rather have a physical cause!! On the morning of my wedding, I woke up covered in hives, and the makeup artist used milk on my face to take the redness out!!!
I hope you can figure out what's going on soon. I definitely feel your pain!

TY again to everyone - its not as red/purple anymore- but still swollen and itchy.  It is SO embarassing! I can't sit at the front desk of a medical office lookin' like THIS!!!
