My DS is going in for surgery today!(update)
Hey ladies! I just need to vent for a second. My 4 year old DS has to get major dental surgery today. He'll be getting put out which is totally stressing me out. Plus the fact that his top 4 teeth will be getting pulled plus he'll be getting 4 root canals on his back molars! 
He knows nothing about it but I'm freaking out. And on top of it all, his appt. isn't until 2 so I needed to wake him at 5:30 a.m. feed him by 6:00 b/c now he can't eat until tonight.
Has anyone gone through this before with their little ones?
UPDATE: Thank you all for your well wishes! He did so well I'm so proud of him. The anesthesiologist was wonderful. He gave him a shot and told DS it was a bee that stung him so DS has no idea what happened. After waking up a bit groggy, we came home and he was back to himself within 15 minutes wanting to play baseball and go on his swings. I really think it was more traumatic for me than him. We had to explain that he lost 4 teeth today and his response was, "Mom, I guess you don't have a baby anymore. I big now!". I can eat him up!

I did! Patrick had his top 4 teeth removed. He was almost 3 when it happened. We had one of the first appoitments because of his age. It was heartbraken for me. He doesn't remember it. Not really. He just thinks he woke up one day & they were gone.
I will tell you when it is done they will call you in. And he will be VERY groggy & a bit upset. They will let you hold him until he full wakes up. Then you take him home. There will be no straws or sippy cups allowed.
The next day Patrick wanted cereal! So he wasn't to scarred from it.
Here's hoping your son will be feeling good in no time! And some hugs for you because I know I was a mess.

my daughter had her 2 front top teeth pulled when she was 3 and they come out so easily because they are not really rooted in, and there was minimla bleeding, not even stitches. Not sure about the molars, but I know the front teeth are babies so they are really easy to get out. She had VERY minimal sweet air which made her groggy and she sat on my husband;s lap, then thy gave her novacaine and it was a done deal. I was too scared to go with full anesthesia although I know kids get it often, it just freaked me out, but I'm a worry wart. I'm sure he will be fine, it will be worse for you!!!

I searched on LIW for my post about the surgery. Here is what I wrote:
We're back! Unfortunately the Doctor extracted Patricks front 4 teeth on the top. It was hard to see him going into the O.R. I was not a happy camper. And as soon as he was out of view. I burst into tears. Only 1 parent was allowed to take him in the operarting room so, I let John do that. John came back & said that he was fine cried for all of 5 seconds & was sleeping. Patrick was in there for 2 hours. When we finally got to see him in the recovery room he was asleep in the hospital crib. And yes, Mommy cried alot more!! He looked so sore. And his gums were bleeding. It just broke my heart. We were in the recovery room for about an hour 1/2. Patrick slept alot. Once he took a few sips of juice we were able to take him home. He was very groggy. But, he is now feeling better & attempting to run around. He is constantly at the roof of his mouth. He notices the teeth gone. But, seems to be ok with it.
