JMHO:

I know people feel that kids need to be a certain age to really appreciate Disney (and for the most part that's probably true.) But YOU and your DH can get immeasurable joy out of seeing how she reacts to the rides, the characters, etc...She might not remember her first trip regardless of what you do, but you'll never forget it.

And like another poster said, think carefully about how much you personally want to do something.

Good point and I pointed that out to DH once but he still feels that we should wait till the baby is like 3 or 4. He'd rather go on a cruise next year with the baby. He wants to do the Norwegian Dawn cruise, we did that 2 years ago. It stopped in Orlando, Miami, a private island in the Bahamas and in Nassau-Bahmas. DH loved the private island and the whole idea of being on the beach with the baby.

I think Disney will be great. She might be too young to remember much but I'm sure she'll have fun as well as you guys having fun. If she is under two I beleive her tickets are free so no added expense. We go to disney alot and we always see people with babies and toddlers.

Have fun whatever you choose.

IMO i think it is up to how Alia acts around strangers and BIG animation...

My friend took her 2 year old and he freaked out every time anything came near him...(people dressed up in outfits and costumes etc)

ETA...if she ilikes these things then GO FOR IT!

My friend hated the trip....

Actually although your child might be young for disney I would def. say disney over a cruise. Cruises can be great family vacations but with a 1 1/2 year old will not be able to do much of anything. Most childrens activites don't start until the age of 3. Also some lines won't do babysitting until the child is a certain age or toliet trained.

Also the baby would not be allowed in the pools. They have to be potty trained to use the pools on the ship - swim diappers are not allowed.

I would conside disney or maybe a beach resort destination - where you can go to the beach or playgrounds etc instead.

We took our son to Disney when he was about 14 months and we had the best time. Yes, he was young, but he enjoyed looking at the characters and there are a few things that they can do.

There is a little playground called Pooh's Place (or something like it) which is for children 2 and under that has little bridges to cross, a tree house to explore and sprinklers to play in; we spent at least an hour in there and my son loved it. Plus, Disney is a blast for adults as well.

Some ships have kiddie pools. The Norwegian Dawn does.

Yesh NCL is very kid friendlyChat Icon - but from what I read on cruisecritic.com they don't let kids in diapers in the kiddie pool either - it is a CDC violation.

what I have seen however, is that some parents bring a small blow up pool for their kids.

Here is a thread from that board on kiddie pools and diapers

thanks so much, you have been very helpful.
I think we won't be taking a cruise if that's the case.

The rule is no - but I do think that some people break that rule - so it might depend on who is "on duty" at the kids area that day.

IMO I wouldn't chance it until the baby was a little older and can really enjoy the activities.

You could call the cruise line itself and ask their policies - but I think the pool issue is a CDC health rule.

I think disney is a fabulous vacation if you think your child will handle the characters well. There are plenty of tame rides that young children would love -

check out disboards it is a disney posting board like these you can get an idea there of what parent's with young children do.

Go for the best...take her to Hawaii while the airfare is still free Chat Icon
I know, I know ...plane ride too long! I would do the Florida idea. Me personally, I wouldnt take a baby on a cruise... cant imagine being "stuck" on a ship. I like to be free to roam. especially with children. The sesame idea is pretty cool!
