ok, talking about mastercard being responsible for puppymills is obserd.
i realize you are trying to makea point here DJ..... but i think this is getting wAY out of hnad and off the topic.
Its right on topic actually. Blaming ebay is no different than blaming the landlords for renting to pet stores... and blaming any financial institution that rents out their services and lends their money to pay for these such things.
Can't sugarcoat this one.
Based on this theory, then landlords would be responsible for children being molested because they rented an apartment to a pedophilia. Or the mall is responsible for people's cars being stolen because they provide the parking lot. I don't think liability exists across the board just because there is some connection no matter how far removed.
Actually it does if a car is stolen from a mall it is the malls responsiility to keep there customers safe Was there adequate lighting .... was there security ... Pedophelia YES if the landlord did not notify anyone of this. Absolutely it is there responsibility

Re: eBay to sell LIVE animals-----
yes but ebay has always been against it. there have been live animal auctions that have been pulle.d
now they decide maybe they will do it, but the majority of peopel (animal lovers) are very aginast it and are hoping they reconsider.
IMO it would look VERY VERY bad for them

Don't you think it is the building owners JOB as an owner to check out what his space is being used for ????
You can very easily add a clause in your commercial lease saying no live animals will be sold on the premises.
Yes but I work in commercial liability ... and it is the LANDLORD who has a duty to keep tabs on there building. If there is a fire .. it is there responsbility as well as the store owner BOTH had a responsibility.
I really don't get what you are saying here since you first said the building owner said they don't have responsibility... but now you are saying the landlord (who is typically the building owner) has duties.
Like I said... a simple clause in the commercial lease would prevent any live animals from being sold.
But a landlord is never going to do this since they want to make money just like everyone else does.
I said the LANDLORD/Building owner does have responsbility what % it depends but that is why they have liability insurance.

Actually, no they don't have responsibility. Malls have limited liability and aren't held responsible if your car is stolen or broken into. They don't pay to have it replaced. Should there be something the property managers neglected to do, such as replacing a burnt out light, they may be held to a certain degree of liability for the percent of damage caused by neglect.
As far as registered sex offenders, it's up to them and their parole officers to notify the local municpality and state...not the landlord.

No usually your car insurance pays However you can sue the mall Absolutely ... and as far as sex offenders yes it is up to them however you do have a responsbilty as a building owner to know who you have in a building

"We are also looking into allowing non-profit animal shelters to list animals for adoption for free."
I do like this it gives animals more of a chance to find homes....

So is it wrong to sell a pet on Craigslist? ANd what is the difference of someone putting up signs around the neighborhood that an animal is for sale. What's the difference?
Personally, I only get animals from shelters. There are enough homeless animals that need a loving home.
there are quite a few sites that sell animals such as livedeal classified- what makes it different than answering an ad in the paper or buying from a breeders website? i dont get the problem - it should always be buyer beware - not everyone is reputable look into it - as with anything from ebay.
my dogs are mostly rescues myself - alot of people get these high priced dogs and dont want them after christmas --- checking the shelters may save some.....especially after the holidays

Amen to that! I am a very fond supporter of checking some shelters and local rerscue groups as a means of finding your pet. I have 3 purebreds from rescues and they really are the best dogs. It is a win win situation.

IMO it is wrong.
I agree. I would want to see the dog in person and play with it for awile before buying...or shall I say bid on it. Bid on a dog?? That is absurd Plus, knowing this dog was shipped like cargo also makes it wrong. If I was a reputable breeder...I wouldnt seel the dog to the highest bidder, I would want to seel it knowing it was going to a good family who is going to take care of it, so it seems like they are out for the $$$.
