hate to say it but we tipped the title person $100...why...lawyer told us too

like I said too our attorney said to tip 150.00 and told us to give him the cash and he past it under the table like it was a big hush hush...thats when I got that strange feeling....and to top it off the bank gave us a bottle of wine... and the nerve of the attorney asked if he could have it!!!! at that point we felt so raped we surrened the bottle to him....

all i got was flowers from my broker when we got the keys.... and the owner left us booze in the house ...but with all those checks going around, i kinda had to blurt out, hey wheres mine?
oh well im just glad its all over now....and we have a house.... fortunately the process was very smooth

I ended up using the seller's broker cause I called the listing agent directly. She didn't even show up at our closing! She took the day off! 
The check to her firm got mailed to her!
My seller did decide to leave a nice nordictrac treadmill for me at my request. 
Haven't used it yet though.

I dont think they tip because they think it will push their papwk along, although some people may think so. I think its more out of a courtesy.
I dont think my DH attackd Pill, they had a civilized debate, no name calling. I cant say the same for Titlecloser.

A mortgage broker saying not to tip???? BTW this is Hubby, mortgage brokers are the BIGGEST CRIMINALS in the industry...why should someone have to pay points?? Cause the broker has to pay for his porsche?

I tipped the Title Closer $100.00. I figured if it helped get the paperwork done faster, I was already spending all this $$$ whats another 100.00.

this was a really amusing thread
i never heard of tipping anyone, nor did i know a title closer existed (we did not have one at our closing).
i actually agree with DJPill , however i do have one question for you...
how do you feel when people say you shouldn't be tipped because since you own your business the tip is included as part of the fee?
although i did tip my band and photographer at my wedding, i did so because they did a wonderful job, not because i felt obligated and society "dictates" me to do so. they were owners of their business so therefore no additional tip is required

I was very entertained by this debate!
I myself did not tip anyone, nor was I instructed to at any of my closing. However...I do feel I got ripped off by the mortgage brokers

We tipped our title closer as a courtesy, she was extremely professional and courteous, on the other hand our mortgage broker s u c ke d
his inablility to return a phone call in a timely manner cost me money in regard to nterest rates.
It is a matter of personal preference

We tipped; our attorney explained to use that it was optional but customary. We didn't even think about it, but we were in a good mood b/c our attorney was able to get us a bunch of money back at closing, so we didn't really care. In general though, we're the tipping type, right or wrong, fair or not. Probably we're suckers.
