Re: Spinoff to what you do to save money - How much do you save each month?
depends on the month- I was trying to save $1K a month just me- but it ended up to be more like $500
but since Jake makes commission only- the amount we save depends on the amount he brings home
some months alot, some months we buy something big and some months nothing

Most of my salary. But, we don't have a house or kids. I am sure that # will decrease when we buy a house.

Re: Spinoff to what you do to save money - How much do you save each month?
As for me personally...FH has put me on a plan that I give him $200 a month and he puts it into an account for the new house we are about to buy. When I lived with my ex and had both salaries, we pretty much saved all of my salary and used his for the bills. Then again we rented an apartment for $850 a month(which I still live in).
So now that my seperation cost me $1500 and my ex and I split what was in or saving account. That fee was just for a mediator, lawyers would have cost MUCH more) I had to tap into my savings for that. Then my ex also took most of the furniture so I had to replace that as well. Not I pay for my car, insurance, rent, cell, gas, groceries and everything that has to do with my son on the days he is with me which is 4 out of 7 days a week. (we split custody and I do not get child support or alimony.
That basically leaves just enough for me to survive on let alone save...I am gonna need a new car soon too...that's gonna hurt.

We're saving about $1,000 a month. We don't have many bills, but both of us have student loans and car payments.

OMG, I feel pathetic.............. \
So do I! With 2 kids in care, it is very hard to save anything. Once my lease is up, I will be able to save $200/month. Not very good but it is something.

We save very little. We purchased a home last year and our mortgage is just over $4 thousand a month!!! A couple to several hundred at best.
I am with you- we used to save about $2000 a month when our mortgage on our condo was only 1450 now its is over 4k with taxes so who knows how much we will be able to save each month. I am hoping at least 500.
