Do you have a friend or family member that you think you will feel comfortable leaving the baby with?
Maybe a sister, friend, or grandparent?
Thankfully, DH is fine with my parents watching the baby if we ever want to go on a solo vacation.

I wouldn't mind leaving him with my parents. Neither does DH.

I would be ok leaving him/her with my brother, SIL, niece & nephew, but they live far away now so we'd have to bring the baby to NY, then go away from there, but that might not be such a bad thing. then we can combine a vacation with a visit to family & friends.

same with us. fam is in NY, we are in NC. I think something like dropping off baby, then doing a weekend bed and breakfast or something. or a cruise to no where.

I was thinking the same thing! We're in Chicago, so we'd probably fly with the baby to NY, then do something relatively inexpensive not too far away. How sad is it that I've already thought about vacationing without the baby and he/she is not even here yet?! I feel like a bad mom already. But so many people say that once the baby's born I'll never want to leave him/her. So, maybe I'll change my tune.

you read my mind!! My anniversary and b-day are in the same week, so I am already thinking if there is a way I can preserve that week.
In all honesty...I am nervous of all the sneaky "quickie" sex that is going to be taking place when the baby is here. I think a good long weekend will be great here and there

LOL...quickie sex.....we couldn't wait to get back into our groove.....and to be honest, even with the baby, it's been more often AND better. It was rough when she was waking up often, but now that she sleeps 12 hours at night.....life is GRAND

Ohhh!! good point. I think a long weekend away will probably be a great thing. I'm already anticipating us needing one since we'll be on our own here in Chicago from November on. I don't think it will be easy not having help from family & friends nearby. Plus DH travels alot for work. I hope I don't have a breakdown! Maybe if I have a vacation to look forward to, that will make it easier.

My parents watch the baby and my DH is SOOOO comfortable with that.
Believe me, you're going to look forward to having an "alone" vacation sometime. Mine is in October.

Either my parents or my IL's. I would guess that if we went away for more than 2 days, they would probably share the time anyway.

When we go to Ethiopia my sister and parents will share the 1 week long care of Molly. I have multiple people that I can leave Molly with if I need to. I am very lucky that way.

Re: Do you have a friend or family member that you think you will feel comfortable leaving the baby with?
Definitely my sister (but not my BIL so there goes that idea) My parents witout a doubt (thankfully lives inteh same town as my sister so I will never have to leave the baby at sisters house) My ILs (only 1 night - my FIL has MS so my MIL is already taking care of him. Too much to take care of) My BIL (he is 40 and single. We already have him booked for a might in March when we are going to a wedding. Baby isn't even here yet! ) Also, various aunts and uncles on both sides.
We are blessed to have family around that can not wait to take this baby from us!

Re: Do you have a friend or family member that you think you will feel comfortable leaving the baby with?
I feel comfortable leaving Ava with ANYONE on my side of the family. No one on JT's side will ever be alone with my daughter. So far, at 5 weeks, we've left her overnight twice with my parents, and had my sister babysit, my aunt babysit and my cousin is going to be my mother's helper starting next week. My family is awesome.
