Teachers Salaries
Does anyone know if there is a place to look to find out what the starting salary is for teachers in different districts? Thanks!

Re: Teachers Salaries
LI districts are pretty tight-lipped about their salaries, so I doubt you would be able to find any current info.

Re: Teachers Salaries
Well just to give everybody a general idea, during the last months of school when I was subbing in a district on LI, I came across the salary schedule.
NOw, I do no remember every single step *obviously* but I do remember that a 1st year with Master's degree started at about 43K in this particular district.
I do not know if that helps any, but I hope so.

what district is that....I find that hard to believe that only a BA pays that much. That is what they usually start with a MA or just a little less

Re: Teachers Salaries
It is crazy how different salaries are. I know, in some districts, starting with a masters varies from----46,000 47,000 53,000 and another district (10 years ago) started at 49,000---so Im assuming now they must be very high!!
Its crazy

Re: Teachers Salaries
I teach on long island...and I was in a district for one year as a maturnity leave and the step 1 with a MA was almost $10,000 more than the step 1 with a MA that Im in now. The district that Im in now is also conisdered to be a "better" district and in my opinion a nicer community to live in. Its a big cut....but the pay scale makes bigger jumps with the steps so in the end...it evens out. So you have to look at the long term of the steps too.

so true!
FH gets emails all the time for schools in NC - in one particular county, with a masters degree and 4 years experience, he would make $35K, and the stepups were

Re: Teachers Salaries
http://www.lischooltax.com/ may have some info about salaries. Some of the links are to actual contracts. Keep in mind this website is basically anti-teacher because apparently we "make too much money"
