When you and your spouse have children will you follow your parents lead?

Did your parents have too many, too little, or the right number of children compared to what you would like?

DH is the oldest of 3.
Him, a brother, then his sister. He says two is fine with him.

I am the oldest of 7. I would love to have 4. 7 was a lot, and my mother's brain is completely fried trying to keep up with everyone now.

Re: When you and your spouse have children will you follow your parents lead?

I'm from a 2 - me and my brother
DH is from 2 - him and his brother

My dad is one of 4, that's the number that I think is perfect .. I have so many cousins that are now my bestest friends since I'm born, I love that.

I think we'll only have 2 though

Re: When you and your spouse have children will you follow your parents lead?

My parents have two, which is definitely the number I want, but I want to have one boy and one girl. I would like to have a girl first to assure myself that I will have a daughter. Chat Icon I could see having a max of three if we don't get a boy and a girl with the first two. DH's parents had 4 kids.

I am one of three, DH is one of two. We both agree that two is a nice number for us. I am also already almost 34, I would like to be done by 37, I hope. But part of me thinks I will be happy with one.

Seriouslly....DH has a daughter who is 9 from his previous marriage...so we would be happy with just 1. DH is older than me, and doesn't want to be the "grandpa" dad.

This is difficult because of the step and half families I am a part of.....

and DH has a sis and bro that are half as well

I think DH and I will do whatever we feel comfortable with when the time comes

Re: When you and your spouse have children will you follow your parents lead?

I am from 2 - me and brother
DH is from 4 - 2 brothers, 1 sister

We want to see how it's like to have 1 and then from there we'll decide on whether to have another.

Re: When you and your spouse have children will you follow your parents lead?

I'm from 2 (I'm the oldest of 2 girls)
Dh is from 3 (two older sisters-he was the last ditch effort)

I'd be fine with 2 if it were one of each.

DH SWEARS we'll have 2 girls and then our boy...so 3 at the most I guess

I am 1 of 2.

But me and DW are both in agreement that we will only have one child. She is not thrilled about pregnancy in general and feels one is enough.

I would rather spoil one child silly... rather than having to split it between two. Its more of a financial reason for me.... I don't want us to have to struggle with the bills.

my parents had 4, DHs parents had 5.
and i have half-sybllings that i never met, but i guess that doesnt play a role in this scenario Chat Icon

i would love to have 4... but we'll wait and see how we handle one first (or 2... twins run rampid in DHs family Chat Icon )... and then take it from there.

we both like sleep alot, so i'm not sure if 4 is going to work out Chat Icon

I'm from 2 and DH is from 4. We are definitely following my parent's lead. 2 of us. 2 of them. Perfect.

Re: When you and your spouse have children will you follow your parents lead?

I'm from one and DH is from two. I'm perfectly happy having one, but DH says "I shouldn't do that to Jared, he needs a sibling".

If someone else could go throught the pregnancy for me, sure, I'd have 2 more...It's just soo much stress on my body...

DH is from a family of 3 biological siblings but 6 total siblings including the step & half siblings.

My parents only had 2.

I am a firm believer that you should never let THEM (the kids) outnumber YOU. Chat Icon I might be okay with just one. Dh is already talking about #2...I tell myself he's just kidding. Chat Icon
