Lance Armstrong
A co-worker told me that he is suspected to have used performance enhancing drugs?
Anyone else hear this?

Re: Lance Armstrong
I saw this on the news last night in the gym, but I believe he is denying it.

Re: Lance Armstrong
This was all over the news a couple of days ago. They ran a urine test on urine that was frozen and saved from the year that he first won the Tour de France. They were testing for a specific performance enhancing drug that they couldn't test for back then, and found that it was in his urine. He denies it. I saw interviews with former teammates of his who said that he encouraged them to use the drug.

Re: Lance Armstrong
I saw something ...they are saying that the "drug" increases the amount of red blood cells or something.
I dunno...but really if it was 7 years ago why re-hash?

Re: Lance Armstrong
The drug is called EPO and it's an oxygen enhancing drug. He swears he did not use it EVER! He claims that after surviving cancer and brain surgery, etc. he would never put drugs into his body. I have to believe that. The french newspaper dug this up and the bicycling drug committee (can't remember the name) already said there are many holes in the story and they are going to look into it and find out what the facts are. By the way, these urine samples are "B" samples, meaning the "A" samples were already tested and found negative. And this has gone on almost every year for the last four years...only from the French, cuz they really hate that an American has won this race so many times.
I am a little adamant about the subject, sorry! I just feel he should be left alone and I admire him greatly.

Re: Lance Armstrong
Yeah, I heard that this was "leaked" from a former member of his training team.
I tend to wonder... why now? Are they disgruntled former employees of the team?

From what I've heard, the Tour De France management is all sorts of annoyed that an American won so many times. His teammates have a lot of motivation to drag his name through the mud as well, seeing as they lose the spotlight every time he wins. He's the NY Yankees of Biking, really.
Anyway, as to the sample from '99 that tested positive for EPO - it's an ANONYMOUS B SAMPLE. It wasn't even labeled with his name.
I don't much like him (mainly because he cheated on his wife who nursed him through the cancer that he's so louded for surviving, and also because he is with Sheryl Crow, who probably is my second most hated musician, but mostly the first reason), but I *really* don't think he's guilty of this.
