Infants & belly sleeping
My DD is 1 month old and can go 2 hours or so on her back but on her belly we can get 4-5 hours of pure heaven in Of course my mother put me on my belly and I'm alive but I'm feeling guilty with the whole "back to sleep" SIDS thing........Anyone else put their infant belly down??

Re: Infants & belly sleeping
Connor always slept on his belly. We had the Angel care monitor that has a motion sensors that picks up the breathing that always made me feel safer.

Re: Infants & belly sleeping
I agree with Jen - just get the Angelcare monitor and get some sleep :)
Jack is only now sleeping through the night and you know why..........because he learned to roll over and sleep on his belly....go figure LOL.

Jack slept on his belly from the day he came home from the hospital.

Re: Infants & belly sleeping
My son always liked sleeping on his belly better. He would take 3 hr naps on his belly -but unswaddled about 1/2 hr naps on his back. The dr definately wasn't happy when I told him but I would let him nap on his belly. I never did it through the night though (I swaddled him and he was fine). Now that he can roll over, he instantly rolls to his belly the second I put him in his crib (on his back) and he sleeps very well.

Re: Infants & belly sleeping
I waited until she could roll over, at around 4.5 months. At that point I let her sleep on her belly if she wanted. I was way too nervous before that.

Re: Infants & belly sleeping
Claire is a belly sleeper too. I was so nervous the first 2 months but then gave in, it was the only way she would sleep more then 30 minutes at a time. She also had very good head control early on, so I felt a little better, but always checked her like crazy.

Re: Infants & belly sleeping
I have been wondering the same thing. He sleeps on his belly during the day for hours at a time and only a half hour on his back...I have been afraid to put him on his belly at night...I think I am going to start!
