It's a new year...let's get some new updates

Let's get a new update thread going....

I'll start. I'm on day 3. Went for sono and b/w today. Starting estrace until my lining gets to 8, then start injectables for my 5th IUI. I hope this new year brings a new baby for everyone.

Re: It's a new year...let's get some new updates

December was my last round of Clomid, last round of treatments for me. Insurance rejected all of my treatments and I got stuck with one big bill. Clomid has been putting me in so much pain and giving me the heaviest AF, and I just can't handle it anymore. I cannot afford any further treatments and after three years of trying, I'm done. As soon as I get a job, I'm adopting. (I walked out on my last job in a hormonal fit due to all of the crazy hormones I was on.) Baby Dust to all of you.

Re: It's a new year...let's get some new updates

We recently changed drs and are in the initial analysis phase with NSUH. Tomorrow is the last test of the analysis - the HSG. On the 11th we have an appointment to hear the good dr's diagnosis. Its leaning towards male factor and I suspect IVF is just around the corner. So after wasting a year at another clinic without either a PG or a diagnosis, I hope 2006 is our year

Best of luck to everyone

Re: It's a new year...let's get some new updates

Well tomorrow is my consult at Cornell, with Dr. Spandorfer. I had a series of immune testing done that is called RPL panel (recurrent pregnancy loss). It revealed some positive antibodies that my RE said she expected because of my thyroid. The entire time at my former clinic I asked if the thyroid issue has anything to do with my situation. I was told continuously that as long as my TSH levels were fine, that all was okay. NOT TRUE ! I completely feel my time was WASTED at that clinic and still would be. I was told to go on asprin therapy, which I already have been on. When I asked my Re about the various therapies that are out there for immune issues she wasn't aware of them. In fact she said she wouldn't even consider them. So I am off to a new facility and possibly a doctor who specializes with immune issues.

I seriously recommend any woman who has trouble conceiving after being told their situation is unexplained....and definitely those with thyroid issues to have the RPL panel done. If you ever suffered a miscarriage and/or chemical pg that gives you even further reason to have this done. There is further testing that can be done as well but...it's a start. There are special protocols for immune issues.

Much baby dust to everyone!

Right now I"m kind of in limbo and just trying on my own. After 2 converted IVFs/failed IUIs plus the office visits and all the medication DH and I have to wait and make some $$ again before I can return to any clinic Chat Icon

In the meantime I have applied to be part of an IVF study at the Univ of Pennsylvania, and if I get accepted it will only cost me about $1200.

Re: It's a new year...let's get some new updates

I am Oing as we speak I believe.... we BDd last night, New Year's Eve (everyone said I was glowing, lol!!), and will tomorrow too. The CBFMonitor showed me last night as "HIgh" (yes I screwed up the schedule). THe OPK was a definite +, and it seems that I am ferning too. We BOTH have acupuncture tonight and Thursday too. Friday I go for progesterone test and hopefully to get some progesteron supplements since last cycle I did conceive, but it didn't stick.

IF....I get AF at the end of this cycle (please , Chat Icon I don't!!) we will start the injections for IVF. This Thursday we have the injection class and the consent signing. Still have to set up a stress management appointment and a chlymidia test.

In the meantime, I am trying to find ways to reduce the expenses for us -- $13K out of pocket to the clinic and another $8K in meds... Chat Icon

5th round of Clomid.

CD 18 and I just got my surge tonight. I've been sick with what I think is the flu the last couple of days and DH thinks he's getting it now. I'm hoping that we can BD tonight.

Re: It's a new year...let's get some new updates

Hi all...I wanted to say HAppy NEw Year to everyone.

Susan- so sorry to hearthings are so or went so downhill. Hang in there sweetie!

Baby dust to everyone!!

For us...we had our 5th IUI on 12/24. We switched RE's and are now at NSUH. If I get AF( which i feel coming) I will have the HSG sometime around 1/17 and then up to 100mg of Clomid ( did 4 months of Femara) and one month clomid so far. The new Dr doesnt liek Femaras results. I found out it only helps you ovulate one egg not multiple eggs and thats what I need( great job last clinc Chat Icon )

So Im 10dpo I guess and just waiting on something!

Re: It's a new year...let's get some new updates

Okay, well, CD 3 and on to 100 mg of Clomid and 2nd IUI. I have PCOS and have responded well to the clomid. I am working with Dr. Chang at Beth Israel since Cornell doesn't take my insurance. I like him. He is a man of few words, but like him nonetheless.

After January we have 2 more IUIs to do until we can move on to IVF. We only try and think good things. I also start accupunture next wednesday right before I should "surge" with Dr. Wu.

All I can say is that I am truly thankful for the amazing women I am getting to meet here and for all of the support that you have given me! We are truly blessed!

Lots of Baby Dust & Sticky Vibes this year!

Going back to the doctor on Saturday. She is going to put me on provera and then we are going to try metphorin to see if this will help me ovulate since the Clomid didnt work last time.

Re: It's a new year...let's get some new updates

I'm at 6dpiui today (2nd one) and going in to RE office tomorrow for progesterone test due to short/borderline short lp. If level is low then progesterone.

RE wants to do one more month of unmedicated IUI, see what happens and go from there.

Back on Provera again. I will be starting my third round of Clomid at 150mg. I still have not ovulated at all!!!!!!
I really am hoping for an absolute miracle.

So far no follicles over 10Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon in two rounds of clomid.

DH and I have decided one more round with my current RE. I will be switching doctors and think I might have to go straight to IVF. Luckily I have coverageChat Icon but I really hope it doesn't come to that. I really hope I O.

Theresa- I would think you could do IUI with injectables if the Clmid isnt working, before you have to move to IVF. Good luck!!

Re: It's a new year...let's get some new updates

dh and i went to our "injection class" today - we start lupron tomorrow.

we did 4 cycles of clomid and iui - my doc suggested not trying injectables and iui because our problem (at least we don't think) is not fertilization, but uterine (i had ashermans) so we are going directly to ivf.

ivf will allow the embryo to implant +/- 2 to 3 days faster than iui or natural so we are hoping that my lining can hold up for at least long enough to sustain implantation.

my biggest fear is that this won't work. i am getting so tired of this ride.

i wish everyone the best of luck in 2006!!!

Re: It's a new year...let's get some new updates

After 6 IUI's DH and I are on a sort of break...I have to confess, I had some leftover Clomid and I took it last month and I have enough to take this month. Not even sure if I am taking it for any other reason than to keep AF regular, since I was on it and no BFP last year.
I guess we will reevaluate in February and decide if we want to start up again.
I am with everyone else in the hopes that this year bring everyone a BFP!!!

And Susan, I am so sorry to hear your story. We can't do IVF either, for insurance reasons, and it's a tough decision to just give up.

Re: It's a new year...let's get some new updates

I am currently 6dpo and this was my first month on clomid 50mg. If I get a bfn this month, then next month I am staying on the clomid and my dr is going to do an IUI.

Right now I am struggling with the decision to stay with my dr, whom I love or go to East Coast Fertility. Our friends used them and their first month they got pregnant.
