If you could change one thing
In your house - what would it be?
For me - I wish I had a larger kitchen. I don't have much counter space and I LOVE really nice big kitchens. If we decide to stay here we could eventually build out into the area where our kitchen table is and add an island there - but for now we will keep it as is.
Oh - and I also don't love the shape of my master bedroom. It never really bothered me until recently.

Re: If you could change one thing
I wish my house overall was a little bigger. My dining area and living room and a little on the small side for having a lot of friends over, but we deal with it for now. The "den" is now an apartment, so we don't have use of that area. Once we have kids and get rid of the apartment, we will be fine with space since we will have the den back. But for now, we have most of our big get togethers outdoors.

Just one thing? I'd say adding on a large family room with fireplace.

It's a toss up...
full basement or...
having the family rooms in the back of the house be about ten feet deeper so we could seat a lot of people.

Re: If you could change one thing
I would put a window in my kitchen. There used to be one in there but the former owners added a huge den to the back of the house so now my kitchen "window" looks into my den. The kitchen is smack in the middle of the house.

I wish our house had a dining room. We have a nice size EIK, but I want a DR too.

Re: If you could change one thing
My living room is impossible to furnish. It's an L shape and unfortunately the flat screen TV (when we get one) will have to go above the fireplace. I would like to be able to put more seating in it, but the space is hard to work with.
That's the biggest complaint. Others include:
finished basement-maybe one day bigger yard-nothing I can do about that no eat in kitchen-although the kitchen is great-but can't knock down the wall.
That's the short list.

It's a hard choice between the all-inclusive increase square footage or better location.

Re: If you could change one thing
If I could change just one thing, it would be to have our bedrooms on a 2nd floor instead of on the same level as the kitchen, LR and DR (its a hi-ranch).
Other things I want to change is to make my kitchen an eat in kitchen, and to have more storage space!

Re: If you could change one thing
Ok - now with most of these things - do you think they are things that you will eventually change in your home or will you just buy a new home in a few years?
I used to think I would want to stay here forever but now I think that there is just too much that I want changed that I would just look for a new house eventually.

Re: If you could change one thing
I wish I had an eat in kitchen. Our kitchen is a decent size but we have stools at one of the counters to eat and there is no where to put a table.

Re: If you could change one thing
Definately my kitchen! If we plan on staying here for awhile, we will gut it and expand it - we will revisit this idea in about 2 yrs. But I don't have enough counter space or cabinets. I hate the cabinets here and would like a bigger eating area for when we have kids.

Will probably finish the basement and finish non-major projects in the house. I can see us in another home within 5 years if all is well in $$$ land.

Re: If you could change one thing
for me it is the exterior of our house, the siding & windows are in good condition, but I don't love the style. We would like to do an addition, then change the whole exterior. Someday

I have a long laundry list, but top one is an upstairs bathroom.
We are in discussions with contractors right now and might start working on my wish list this Summer.

same here, except we don't have stools. I would really love an EIK.
To answer Diana's question: yes, eventually we will expand our house; we really love our neighborhood and our yard.

Re: If you could change one thing
The one thing our home is missing is a garage and the way my subdivison is planned out we cannnot have one. We do have two deeded parking spaces and my community is fantastic about snow removal, but I think that is the one thing I would have wanted. The house itself is great.
