I just need to have it appraised again first.
the appraisal for insurance purposes is good for 2 years.
Do you know a place near Garden city or Levittown? I cant remember the name of the place we used.

Re: Does anyone have their engagement ring under home owners insurance?
We have it under jewlers insurance. my friend's dad (our jewler) said it's much easier to get the right value for the ring if it's under that than if it's under renters or homeowners.

we have a separate jewelry policy for a few reasons- if we submitted a claim against homeowners, our homeowners rate would skyrocket. Also, our jewelry policy does a replacement based on where we want to shop. As in, I go to my favorite jeweler, he gives me a price for the exact replacement. My jewelery policy then cuts me a check for that amount. I do not have to go to their jeweler and I do not have a deductible at all.
Exactly!!!!!
I had a separate policy with Chubb when I lived in my co-op cause I had no homeowners insurance.
Now i just bought my house and I just added it to my homeowners cause it was much cheaper to do it that way.
But now I checked Jewelers Mutual and it seems like the same insurance coverage compared to my homeowners would be about $10 more a year.
I think I am going to take the e-ring off my homeowners and get a separate policy again.
I didn't think it would be this cheap for a policy... but apparently the move from Queens to Nassau means much cheaper insurance rates.
I know my car insurance dropped a good 35% moving to Nassau so I am not surprised.

well, under your HO policy there are limits of coverage for jewelry & furs. But to have a rider there is coverage for the value of the ring.

The limit is 2k for jewelry insurance for my normal policy. But the e-ring is a lot more... so i had to take out a separate rider.
But like I said... for $10 more a YEAR... i am going to get a separate policy again. (assuming the website quote i got from jewelers mutual is accurate).

Re: Does anyone have their engagement ring under home owners insurance?
jewelery judge on old country road is great. Appraisals for an e-ring normally run in the $100 range.
Speak to Barry.
