Re: How long did you wait to tell family and friends you were pregnant?
So far I have only told close friends and family, but still it seems like a lot of people. I am not telling my job and "spreading the word" to anyone else until we reach at least 12 weeks.
I guess I just feel like so many people are afraid that they are going to miscarry or something can go wrong, but that is a possibility at any time during a pregnancy. I feel like we should think positive. And if god forbid something does happen, I dont feel that people should be ashamed or embarrassed. However, I have never been in that situation so I do not know how I would feel exactly. I just know I am sooo happy right now and wanted to tell the people I love the most and I am kind of down right now b/c of everyone's negativity. When I spoke to my mom and grandmother about it, she said they never even thought about statistics and miscarrying. I wonder why so many women are so scared and so focused on the possibilities these days. I guess worrying comeswith the territory!

Some people are really upsetting me with telling me statistics and all this other crap. I know I am very early, but telling me I could miscarry and I shouldnt tell anyone makes me feel bad. I know there is a chance, there is a chance a person can miscarry at any time. But why shouldnt I be able to tell people being I am so excited???? Some people are making me feel bad and like I jinxed myself. Now i am really nervous and upset about this and am afriad something is going to happen b/c I opened my big mouth. I know it is silly, but geez....can't anyone ever be happy for ya?
You shoudnt be upset, and dont let people tell you how to feel and when to wait. I just waited the 3 months because it took me 2 and ahalf years to finally get PG, and then when I had a m/c I was devastated, and felt so embarrassed, so DH wanted to wait the second time around a little longer. Please dont feel bad. I think it is a PERSONNAL choice and dont let anyone make you feel bad

Re: How long did you wait to tell family and friends you were pregnant?
I told my mom immediately and then we waited to tell everyone else after the first trimester was over.
I was a little nervous b/c I had a miscarriage previously and we were so shell shocked from that - that I just felt more comfortable waiting.
I think people focus on statistics and such because it is soo common and can happen to anyone. However, deciding when to tell is a personal decision and you should do what is best for you!!
Congrats and have a happy and healthy 9 mo.!!

I wouldn't worry about jinxing it- I did tell early and miscarry the first time but I wouldn't have done it any other way- I had so much support from my family, friends, even my boss.
This time around I didn't wait either and this baby is here to stay. I think you should do what makes YOU feel comfortable and tell these negative nellies to shut up!

Re: How long did you wait to tell family and friends you were pregnant?
I was 10 weeks along. We didn't find out until I was 9 weeks and we were seeing DH's family in Georgia for Easter so we waited to tell them then. We told my family on the phone a few days before we left for GA.
