No baby.
We want a nice beach, a pool with a bar, bars and restaurants, but nothing too crazy, and water sports.

Re: Poll - Florida Vacation
are you more into sipping malibu and pineapple juice on an outdoor porch style bar overlooking the beach or partying and drinking cosmos in a club? If it is the first, I would do KL if it is the second I would do Miami. I think Miami has an art museum and a small art walk. Key Largo is more of a relax on the beach kind of vakay.
What are you looking for in your vacation, partying or relaxing?

Not sure I am a west girl. We usually stay with his parents in Cape Coral - but if we were going to stay somewhere we LOVE Captiva and Sanibel

I compeltey agree. Miami is a "see and be seen" type of crowd. Also a young crowd who loves to party. I would do Key Largo if you want more romantic/laid back feel. Key west is awesome why is it out?

Re: Poll - Florida Vacation
Im going to say Key Largo. I went to Miami in Nov and it was "ok". We are going to Key Largo next weekend. If you dont go before then, ( I dont know when you plan to go) I will give a review when I get back.
ETA: Captiva and Sanibel are amazing!

Re: Poll - Florida Vacation
Miami/South Beach could be cool. But I also like Captiva/Sanibel as Marcy suggested. TO add one more suggestion, DH and I like heading to St. Pete.

Re: Poll - Florida Vacation
I voted for Key Largo, although I haven't been there, but I heard it is very nice & relaxing.
I have been to Miami/South Beach twice. Once with girlfriends and that was a blast - totally a night out on the town place every night. And I later went back with DH (he was my bf at the time) and while it was nice - good resteraunts, nice beaches, it wasn't great. I found it so much more of a party place and better suited for with the girls.

Miami is my favorite place. I have never had a bad time there. I love the beach. Great rates on hotels. So much to do.

South Beach...this was one of our (DH and I) favorite vacations! We're hoping to go there again sometime next year.

Re: Poll - Florida Vacation
Key West is out because we are driving from Tampa and it's a longer drive than we are willing to make.
We want to relax but we don't want to be bored either. We want to have places to go out to every night (restaurants, bars etc) but we don't want the Spring Break scene either. I've been to South Beach before but DH hasn't.
It's tied right now.... can I get some more votes?

Check out the Travel Channel - it's beach week and they had a feature on Florida beaches on Sunday. Their website probably has a recap too.

I just read in the travel section of Sunday's newsday ---- there is now a shuttle that will take you from the Tampa airport to any of the Keys.
Crap, I can't remember the name of the company
eta: I remember reading that it was $50

I love Naples and Sanibel on the west coast. It reminds me of the Caribbean and being somewhere tropical.

If you are driving from Tampa I would definitely suggest Clearwater, their is a lot of activities and the beaches are beautiful and their is a ton of restaurants and bars. You would want to find a hotel near the Pier and Clearwater is only about 45 from Tampa, were Miami is about 4-5 hour drive. My dad lives in Clearwater and we go every year in February and have blast.
Edited to add: The travel channel just rated it one of the top 10 best beaches
