Repost from Home - Need info on North Carolina good/bad areas
Ahhh I finally convinced DH to CONSIDER moving South of NY (gasp)!!
One place he is surprisingly interested in is North Carolina.
Can anyone tell me any good/bad areas in NC?
Thanks!

Re: Repost from Home - Need info on North Carolina good/bad areas
DH and I lived in NC for about 1 1/2 years. We lived near Chapel Hill which was a nice area, but pretty young and college like. My brother has lived in Raleigh for the last 7 years and he LOVES it. I think it's a great area - there are a lot of northern transplants there.
I've heard some good things about Charlotte, but personally, I like Raleigh better. I also had a friend who was from NC near Charlotte, and he felt that Charlotte, in general, was a bit of a more conservative area, whereas the Raleigh/Durham area was a bit more open. Anyway, that was just his opinion.
My best friend also built a brand new house about 1 1/2 years ago in place called Morrisville -right outside of Raleigh, and she and her husband seem to really like it.

I live in Charlotte, moved from Long Island a year and a half ago. We LOVE it here, it is a big city with lots to do. The city is clean and the people are nice. I do not regret it for a minute and we are looking to buy a house here soon. Please FM me if you want more info. HTH

Re: Repost from Home - Need info on North Carolina good/bad areas
We just moved to Raleigh last month! I am not actually living there yet (need to finish some things up at work) but DH is. We got a great apartment in a great area. My friends are down there too.
I love Raleigh and its surrounding areas. It is so nice and reminds of the way LI used to be.
I will be able to tell you more once I am living there myself and learn more but in the meantime I can try and answer any questions you have.
Good luck in your hunt!

Re: Repost from Home - Need info on North Carolina good/bad areas
My parents relocated to Morrisville, NC shortly after our wedding. It's a nice area and my mom is making a better salary down there then she made up on LI and only works four days a week :)
Morrisville is right outside of CARY. My 30 year old brother lives down there as well and he loves it and both him and my parents move into people from Long Island all the time there.

Re: Repost from Home - Need info on North Carolina good/bad areas
We are seriously considering this move, as well. My step-brother lives in Hillsborough, which is in the Raleigh area, and he loves it. We are considering that area as well as parts of Charlotte.
I can't believe how many people from LIF's live there or are considering moving there!! Let's all share info! We are planning a trip there in Jan/Feb, so I'll be sure to share lotes of pics!
