Drinking spinoff-Did anyone have any underage drinkers at their wedding?
I did. I did not encourage it, but I also did not let it worry me either. My siblings who were underage did not drink, my parents have no tolerence for it.
But many 18-20 year olds on DH's side, as well as my own cousins were drinking.

Re: Drinking spinoff-Did anyone have any underage drinkers at their wedding?
No. The only teenagers at my wedding were my cousins from Paris who sat with their parents and my 16 year old SIL from Israel who also sat with her parents. I didn't worry about it because they were under thier parent's supervision.

I only had one. He is out of control to begin with so I didn't let it bother me - I just needed to make sure that he was not driving my flowergirl home.

I was wondering- does it make a difference to you if the underage drinkers parents approve or not?

I think my BIL drank, but I wasn't going to sit there and monitor him. My other BIL or DH's childhood friend probably got him the drinks.

Re: Drinking spinoff-Did anyone have any underage drinkers at their wedding?
My 16 yr old cousin got drunk at mine and puked in the back of my uncle's truck. I didn't notice that he was drinking I was too busy. My uncle made him clean it up the next day with his hangover I think he learned his lesson. I don't mind underage drinkers if they are over 18, but anything younger than that irks me. I believe the drinking age should be 18, if you can die for your country, you should certainly be allowed a beer in it.

We only had two people at my wedding of "teenage years". And I doubt they drank anything because their father (who was present) is a recovering alcoholic.

The drinking age used to be 18 right & then it got changed to 21.

I believe 18 should be the age as well. Let's face it, unless you are sending your kid to a Mormon college, drinking on campus is going to be all around them anyway. Maybe making it legal will make it less appealing.

It's all about either controlling yourself or letting it control you.

Re: Drinking spinoff-Did anyone have any underage drinkers at their wedding?
I did. My cousin, a BM, was 20 and I know she was drinking as was her boyfriend, also 20. I agree with whoever it was that said between 18 and 21, at a private party and with no worries about getting home, I don't personally have a problem with it. It is incredibly inappropriate for anyone younger than that though, IMO.
ETS: Under 18/inappropriate = at a family affair and/or at a restaurant or catering facility. I did my fair share of drinking before 18, god knows. But it was done right. You know - in the school yard, running away from cops

Re: Drinking spinoff-Did anyone have any underage drinkers at their wedding?
We didn't have many teens at our wedding and I don't know if the ones who were there drank. I think it's their parents responsibility to make that call. I know that I was allowed to drink before I was 21, but my parents kept and eye on me and it's not like I got smashed. Maybe because my dad is off the boat Italian, my parents never saw drinking as that big of a deal, but I also never gave them reason to think it was that big of thing. It's not like I got watsed, I just had a few drinks at weddings and parties.

I know, I feel like teens today are so much more immature & irresponsible than ever before. I don't know maybe it's just me.
