Well... my contractor started demo'ing the bathroom which is directly behind the wall where the cabinets are in that picture.
There is a waste pipe from the upstairs that goes into the soffit. So it looks like this won't be as easy to remove as planned.
My levit ranch has a second upstairs bathroom... but the upstairs bathroom is more toward the side of the house so the soffit hides the waste pipes.
The waste pipes could be moved... but I think thats too much of a chore to have to bother with.

Yeah.... in a way i am not too upset over it. The cost to extend the cabinets we have quoted to go all the way to the ceiling... plus the crown molding for the cabinets would really raise the price (like at least 1000).
So... its money saved in the end.

wow ..... keep us posted on the construction!! lots of luck renovating! I can't wait to gutt my bathroom... just not in the budget right now.

We're doing this right now. We have a bi-level and there is nothing in the soffit. We are also putting in 42" cabinets and I plan on putting stuff I don't always use up at the top and when I need to reach anything that's up there, I'll get a chair.
