He's been teaching 5th and 6th grade this year - leave replacement positions. He has a lot of kids that are bitter that he's taking over their teacher's spot, because he's a lot more strict than the former teacher.
That is a tough spot to be in. When I was a teacher, the older ones would tell me - start out being a b*tch - you can always lighten up later, but you can't get stricter as the year goes on. Hopefully things get better as they get used to him. I think my friend did her student teaching in that district - in a middle school and she told me some stories too.

He hates the spot he's in right now - he just wants his OWN CLASSROOM already.
