Please keep my baby boy in your thoughts and prayers.....
My doctor called me today with blood results. She said that the level were a little high, shoot I forgot the name of the blood level test. I am 31 years old and for my age she said that the chance of the baby being born with a birth defect is 1/241. She called me at work and I panicked right away, I grabbed my coat and ran out crying.
I went home and DH drove me to the Doctor's office. So I have to have an amnio test done and then wait an agonizing 10 days for the results. I am sooooooooooo worried because I am in my 17th week already and god forbid there is something wrong with the baby I may have to terminate the pregnancy, which scares me even more.
Has anyone here been through this? I have been crying since the doctor called me. I did speak to someone who went through it who is older than me and she said her test came out fine.
Please keep baby Matthew Thomas in your thoughts and prayers...

is it the afp test- It can have false positives which is why I decided against it.

Yes, I have been through this. I was also 31 and my results came out to be 1:5! Long story short, I spent the most agonizing week of my life just to have the numbers turn out to be a TYPO! Anyway, I just wanted to send you lots of and to tell you that our ordeal turned out to be a real blessing in disguise. We learned so much about ourselves and about what a great group of family and friends we have. We also learned that prayers DO work! Best of luck!

I don't know why the rate is so high. I wish I did.
I just want little Matthew Thomas to be ok. If god forbid something is wrong I will be devastated if I have to terminate it....Please God let my baby be ok.......

This is very true, I had a false positive on my first pregnancy but opted not to have the amnio. My son was born fine.
on a side note, the afp test is a test that has to be done at exactly the right time, my doctor said that has a lot to do with the false positives.
