My family is a huge card giving family. They help keep Hallmark in business, especially my mom. We even get cards for Halloween. DH's family is not a card giving family. They're also not that big on holidays. I wouldn't be insulted if my MIL doesn't get me a card when I'm a mom, but she prefers we not even acknowledge Mother's Day. She doesn't like to celebrate it. I'm fine with that. However, if she typically sent cards on Mother's Day, I'd be insulted if all of a sudden I didn't get a card one year.

I sympathize hun. I didn't get anything either. This was my second mothers day as a mom and this ws the second year I got squat! Last year I got her something really nice which I have yet to see her use and since I got zilch I got her roses and no gift this year and yet again got zilch so next year she'll get carnations instead.
