Sterile water question...
When preparing powder formula bottles, it obviously says on the can to boil the water first. So I saw the Nursery water in the store & thought that would be easier than boiling tap water, but it say on the bottle that it is purified, but NOT sterile, doesn't that mean it should be boiled? Also, someone told me that using Poland Spring & other pure waters is no good b/c that is not sterile as well. What gives? So NO bottled water w/o being boiled and NO Nursery water w/o being boiled?
Sorry if I sound dumb, but I'm fairly new to the powder formula world.

Re: Sterile water question...
I cannot seem to get a straight answer about what I should do also...I asked the same question of my pediatrician and he said filtered like using a Brita is good. I have been boiling water (Brita filtered) to use with the powder formula because it dissolves better.

I've use the Nursery water & I never boiled it. Not sure if I'm in the wrong. I have an appoitment w. the pediatrician this week. I will ask him.

Re: Sterile water question...
I usually boil my water, but if I don't have any ready, I'll use bottled water or nursery water. I've never once boiled the bottled or nursery water. I actually had no clue you were supposed to

Re: Sterile water question...
I am a BFing Mom, but usually Frankie's evening feeding is with a Formula Bottle. I use powder and just mix it with bottled water (ie Poland Spring) and I don't boil it. Never knew I had to. I have been doing this for 4 months now and he is fine. He never spits up and never had a gas problem. I once bought the Nursery Water, but he wouldn't take the bottle mixed with that. So not sure if it is different than your regular bottle water.

Same here. Christopher never has issues with the bottled water (unboiled). He does react differently to the Nursery Water though. The only difference really is that it has flouride.

I buy bottled water and I boil it. The nursery water has added floride so some doctors say that is not good. I just know Iam forever boiling bottled water. I usually do it in the morning and then it is room temp for feeding

Re: Sterile water question...
I used nursery water until a few weeks ago... then we started him on the fluoride drops so I switched to Poland Spring. I never boiled any water for him (or my 2 1/2 year old, although he wasn't a big fan of the powdered stuff).

Re: Sterile water question...
We use filtered water out of the fridge. I don't even heat it up anymore. But then again I'm the mom who doesn't sterilize her bottles.
