NC furniture???

Is it really cheaper? What is the deal with shipping?

Can anyone recommend a web site to order?

TIA

Re: NC furniture???

I have been looking on this site:

www.nchomefurniture.com

The prices seem great, but the shipping is very expensive (IMO). I have heard good and bad things about ordering from NC. What I have been told that it takes a long time, 6-8 weeks, for something to come, and if it comes damaged, then you have to wait about that long for the new piece.

I am still up in the air about whether or not to order.

Good luck!

Re: NC furniture???

We had a GREAT experience with North Carolina furniture. We went to a place called the Furniture Shoppe (they probably have a website, but we were on a vacation in NC and just made a side trip to this furniture area)

Our bedroom set is Laura Ashley by Kincaid-- we got a headboard/footboard, two large nightstand tables, a large dresser for me, large dresser for DH, and a tall skinny "lingerie chest" for me. The whole thing cost $4500 (including shipping!) and would have been a few thousand more in a retail store, based on our research.

I think NC furniture is sort of like the diamond district-- there are reputable places and there are shady places. The best bet is to get recommendations from people who have bought from there.

We ordered our dining room set from this place:

Royal Interiors, Inc.

We had found it at Fortunoff's and saved almost $2500 by ordering it from NC. I think shipping was like $400. I don't think we paid tax, but I could be wrong.

Re: NC furniture???

Woodarmfield furniture was great with us. You can find what you want in stores here and then call them with the knid and it was significantly cheaper then on 110.

Re: NC furniture???

we used rose furniture their website is www.rosefurniture.com we saves 4500 on our dining room set becuase of tax and getting it at wholesale. my parents just recently bought a condo and had to furnish 5 rooms and the saved over 12K using them. fm me if you want our guys name who we used. its totally worth it. we went onthe manufactures website found the set, priced it out here at two places and not only did they beat the price they blew away fortunoffs hands down and also got a warranty better than fortunoffs. the also do financing which a major plus too.

Re: NC furniture???

I had a nightmare of an experience with NC furniture so I guess it all depends on where you decide to get it from. We used FurnitureLandSouth and it was the worst furniture experience I have ever had.

Re: NC furniture???

I ordered from Blacks furniture. I called several places in NC they had the cheapest price. They have a website. The price I ordered was about $1200 here & I got it from Blacks with shipping for $800. They where very nice to deal with and the item came in b/4 the due date. I am getting ready to order from them again.

Re: NC furniture???

We just went this past weekend to Seigerman's for new furniture for our computer room. The set we picked out came to $8000, more then we wanted to spend. I came home and called some companies in NC, all had it for much much cheaper! I just ended up ordering the exact same set from Furniture Direct for $4828.00, total cost with delivery. We ended up saving over $3000!

(The lady I dealt with was very nice if anyone wants a name.)

Re: NC furniture???

I ordered my bedroom set from Rose furniture, and saved about $1500 on it. Plus the tax! It's definately worth it, and you can finance if you want as well.

See, we used Furniture Land South so many times and have had great experiences with them. They furnished our bedroom, dining room, family room, den.... about 6 years ago the couch we got came in damaged (they had a flood) and they replaced it quickly. Since that flood, they have built a HUGE new warehouse to house all of their furniture. I highly recommend them. If you need the name of the guy we used, FM me.

I had a great experience with Blacks too. They were the only place in NC that I found to carry Thomasville furniture. They charge shipping for other manufacturers, but free shipping on Thomasville and no tax either.

I had major problems with them. The first 2 china cabinets they delivered to me were damaged. When I say damaged, I don't mean a tiny scratch. I mean the door to the cabinet does not close at all. Not even close. They came to pick up the first one and brought a second one that had the same problem. Finally 6 months later and a whole lot of nasty phone calls, we got a new cabinet. They don't have anyone who can fix the furniture, so you just have to keep sending it back.

In their defense, it probably could have happened with any vendor. However, because we weren't there to physically go into the store, we were constantly playing phone tag and that made it very difficult. It was really frustrating and not worth the savings in the end. This was all around the holidays and it caused a lot of stress that we didn't need.
