Hospital bag list
I have consulted several different posts and an article on Pregnancy Weekly and have combined it. I had to make a check-list for myself so I don't forget anything. I think it is pretty inclusive, and might be of help to those who have not yet packed.
THINGS TO TAKE TO THE HOSPITAL
For Mom and Baby >3-4 nightgowns and/or pajamas >3-4 bras (nursing bras if you plan to breastfeed) >6 pairs of underpants >Robe >Slippers >Socks (some with non-skid bottom) >Toiletries: toothbrush/toothpaste, soap, shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, lotion, brush, Blistex, scented shower gel/body spray (to feel good after delivery) >Scrunchies >Pillow >Towels >Bfing supplies – breastpads, lanolin, boppy >Your own pads >Makeup >Snacks >Money for vending machines >Phone card >Magazines >List of people and phone numbers to call >Camera/film >Camcorder/tapes >Going home outfit >Clothes for baby (T-shirt, socks, hat, sleeping gown) >Going home outfit for baby >Blanket for bringing baby home >Car seat
Miscellaneous items: >Watch or small clock >Insurance information >Hospital pre-registration forms >Change of clothes & toiletries for husband
Things to be used during labor: >Small CD player & soothing music >Focal point >Tennis ball >Lotion for massage >Watch >Paper/pen >Hard candy to keep mouth moist >An activity to keep busy during early labor

Re: Hospital bag list
Bring your own towels and pillow with a colored pillow case. The staff could accidently take your white pillow case when changing the sheets.

Re: Hospital bag list
The only clothes you need for the baby is the going home outfit and maybe a cap if you really want one.
The towels are small but I just used those I didnt want to have to bring anything extra.

Re: Hospital bag list
Not sure if you want to add to your list but two thing I appreciated having were my razor and an extra large bottled water so I didn't have to get up & walk down the hall to refill my pitcher.
eta. the list is pretty exhaustive but I would just add...
having an empty bag for DH to bring back & forth for the freebies the hospital gives you is handy. It also can be left at home.

Re: Hospital bag list
Tip for the girls not BF'ing:
Make sure you bring a few sports bras or really tight bras that fit very very snug against your ample bosom. This way you won't get engorged once your milk starts to come in and will reduce the amount of time for it to dry up.

Re: Hospital bag list
pardon the one hand typing with infant...........
lysol- most will unfortunately have a roomate and you are both bleeding and doing yucky things. my roomate thanked me a million times for bringing it and we each sprayed down the toilet and sink after we used the bathroom. i brought a bottle of bath and body antibacterial handsoap for the bathroom too--roomy used that as well
also stayfree maxis with wings--they are cotton crotched and i doubled them rather than use the diapers the hospital gives you they felt much better.

Re: Hospital bag list
I've also heard to be sure to pack lip stuff. You get very chapped lips and they will get dry and cracked if you have nothing to moisten them.
