Re: Post your EBAY items for Sale
Scott, In your opinion, is it cheaper to ship through the post office? I did everything through UPS and i think it might cost more?

Re: Post your EBAY items for Sale
I just fm'd you. The post office is a lot cheaper. If you notice a lot of your items do not have a bid on them yet and you have 2 days left on them.....You have up until 12 hours before the auction ends to change anything in your auction including shipping ways and rates.
If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. Scott

Re: Post your EBAY items for Sale
Its very easy to set up.
Just make sure you take pictures of the items you are selling and write a really good description of the item, and you should not have any problems.

It's not hard but a bit time consuming.
I usually get all my pictures ready first and I saved my payment/shipping info in a word document so I just copy & paste that to save some time.

Re: Post your EBAY items for Sale
Also if you can start your auctions sunday night and let them go for 7 days. This way your auctions will all end on the weekend and on the you have a better chance of having more people looking on line then having the auction end during the week Scott

Scott,
Do you have more success with longer auctions?
I used to do 7 days and nothing really ever happened until the last day or two so I started doing 3 day and sometimes 5 day auctions with about the same results (I think - there's no way to really know). I know when I am bidding, I look for auctions ending sooner vs later but I am not sure overall how it works out.

Re: Post your EBAY items for Sale
Most Auctions will not get any bids till the last day or so. People usually watch the auction up until the last day so they don't get outbid.
I like 7 day auctions. The only time I do a shorter auction is if I want the auction to end on a weekend and it is during the week that I post it.
I only use the 10 day auctions for big things, like Danielles uncles Chevy Nova that I sold Scott

Re: Post your EBAY items for Sale
Thanks Scott!
I guess I am too impatient for all that - as a buyer and a seller. I only bid on auctions ending soon and list shorter auctions to sell. When I did the longer ones - I would get so frustrated waiting for something/anything to happen.
But it makes perfect sense to do a longer auction for the car -- that's not really an impulse buy like most of the junk I purchase.

Re: Post your EBAY items for Sale
One last question: when you setup postage through USPS, do you print the postage online, or take it to the post office?

you can do either....those that sell a lot or frequently print at home and just drop the pile off at the post office.
You can request priority boxes delivered to your home for free via www.usps.com

Re: Post your EBAY items for Sale
I bring it to the post office. The post office is 3 minutes from my house. If the line is too bad there is a guy that stands in the lobby and he will do your transaction on the computer in the lobby.....Quicker for me.
I have to ship out Lydias Family Table Today - a Cook book. I am going to go home, wrap it in brown shipping paper that I get at the dollar store and goto the post office. It will cost $2.07 to ship it Media Mail Scott

I always want to do this. Even created an account at one point but only did that. I have tons of things that I can probably sell....Even clothes with tags still on that I thought I'd wear and haven't...... I thought it was really difficult.....once you set up the account....how do you receive payment? Is it through PayPal? Or How? What's the best way to go about this? Thanks!
Its not really hard....very easy matter of fact!!
I only accept PayPal or money orders.

I'm selling my Nutrisystem stuff. I did really great with it when I first got started, but I just never seem to have the time to focus enough on a diet right now:

Re: Post your EBAY items for Sale
No I use my home address. I know some people get PO boxes but tell ya the truth...I think of all the things I have sold...maybe 2 people have paid me via money orders. Most will do PayPal.
If you dont want to give out your address then just accept PayPal.

I'm just a little weary of PayPal ....I've heard some horror stories...I think maybe that's what kept me way. But I'll look into it. Do you have to pay anything to setup a PayPal Account? I'll look into that. Thanks Lisa!
