Re: City girls...need cool suggestions please!

for a show I highly recommend Spamalot. The tickets are hard to find, but we got great seats at short notice.

We had dinner at a cute place on restaurant row, but maybe if you make a night of it, head to Little Italy for a remantic dinner

I don't have a hotel suggestion though

I'm not from NY or the area but i just wanted to say I hope you and your DH have a much deserved "alone" time trip! It feels great , even though you will feel sort of guilty for a second, to get away just the two of you! I know after finally allowing myself to feel that it was going to be wonderful( I raised 7 kids)Chat Icon You will absolutely have a great time!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I used to love to hang out at the Tribeca Grand Hotel bar or any W Hotel bar.

Oh how exciting. I love to plan these things.

Show, I would go to a jazz show in the village. Buit if you want to see something fun, go see stomp. It was great.

Restaurant: The Place. Without questions one of the most romantic restaurants in NYC. I love it. Have a drink and nightcap at the bar:)

Hotel: Shelburne Inn, The Time Hotel, Affinia on 50th Street.

Lounge: Niki's Club in the Affinia is REALLY nice.

Have a great time. FM me for more info. I am also going to keep thinkingChat Icon

What about the Maritime hotel? Not sure of the price but for some reason I dont think it's too insane and then they have some good restaurants and lounges in there and it's walking distance from the meatpacking district which has a ton of great places.

Re: City girls...need cool suggestions please!

You guys are going to have such a great time. Here are my suggestions...

Restaurant - Gramercy Tavern, Aspen (really good tapas style food in a restaurant set to look like a ski lodge), or Tabla

Play - I saw Wicked last year and it was really good. Not "new" though.

Lounge - Flute - the one next door to Gramercy Tavern. It's a champagne bar and very romantic IMO. There's also Bubble Lounge downtown near Nobu. You could also try the Library Bar at Hudson Hotel.

Hotel - 60Thompson or T.H.O.R. (The Hotel on Rivington). At THOR, they have a very cool bar (I was there for my b'day a few years ago) and a restaurant that I've heard good things about as well.

Re: City girls...need cool suggestions please!

Do you have an amount that you'd like to spend in mind? Is there one thing - ie dinner, or hotel - that you'd like to splurge on and keep the other costs to a minimum? Some of these suggestions are Chat Icon

1. Restaurant- Need more details. So many great places

2. Hotels/Bar- The Hudson hotel. Trendy boutique hotel. Small rooms though. 2 Great lounges. One mellow and quiet. The other one used to be very hot and trendy. From what I hear you can get great deals.

Re: City girls...need cool suggestions please!

Restaurant: Del Friscos steakhouse or maybe some cute place in little italy

Play(any new ones that you can recommend?): i cant recomend a play sorry

Lounge(not a club) more like a cool hotel bar: the lunge at the W hotel is nice. otherwise Milk & Honey or Angel Share. Pravda is a vodka bar.

Hotel(something nice but not breaking the bank)more on the trendy-boutique-y side...: i would say soho grand but it may be expensive

Re: City girls...need cool suggestions please!

i think im gonna forget about the play...there's nothing on Broadway that im "dying" to see these day,
i figured i can saved at least $200 this way and maybe instead we can go get massages or go to a jazz bar downtown instead.

HOTEL & BAR
Maritime Hotel
It is in a nice area and the bar is nice and laid back, you can just sit get drunk and people watch

I went in the summer so we were out on the deck, don't know about the winter

If not the Maritime Hotel to stay, there is a boutique hotel called the Muse on 46th btw bway and 6th.

We send a lot of clients there and they like it and it is centrally located

RESTAURANT
If you stay at Maritime there is a Japanese place in one of the nearby hotels. I forgot the name of the hotel right now, I want to say Gavensport.

PLAY
for a play the only new one I can think of is Tarzan. My sister went and loved it. It is a disney one so I don't know if you like that, but they always put on good shows with great costumes. They apes/actors swing right out into the audience

Re: City girls...need cool suggestions please!

We once stayed at the Hudson Hotel - as others said the rooms were small, but it has a very sexy feel to it, and the lounges are like that also.

Enjoy!Chat Icon
