Re: Need Airline Ticket Advice
We went through the SAME thing last week. We ended up paying $299 there and $200 back EACH on Jet blue but, we priced it out and that was the best we got. there are some airlines that do have special rates ( i know cause i called ) - continental is one BUT - its not THAT much cheaper and they make u take a bunch of flights - it wasn't worth it for us. I called and asked jet blue and they said no. we had to make our flight earlier because dh's gma was really sick and they wouldn't even waive our change free without a death certificate...gee thanks

Does anyone know if they give you discounted tickets if going for a wake - your is it still full price for a ticket?
i think that is immediate family only
I would ask anyway - depending on the airlines, they might. I have had to do this in the past. I asked for the bereavement rate and all they wanted to know was the name of the deceased and the funeral parlor where they were being waked. It doesn't hurt to ask, but sometimes it will still be $$$ b/c it's last minute.

I just went through this today with a customer, a lot of airlines have done away with bearevement fares. Plus if any of them do a bearevement fare they require a lot of additional information.
A suggestion is do one carrier out (i.e., continental) and a different carrier back (i.e, jetblue)
Or fly out of one airport and return to a different. Fly out of LGA and back into ISP or JFK. I am actually doing this in August, flying into newark and flying home out of JFK.
Dont go near USA3000. They are aka delay3K and their aircrafts are not the best.
