I have a trainer now for my two little dogs. She is wonderful. FM me if you want anymore info. She trained police dogs for the NYPD for 20 yrs. and now has her own business. I have 2 yorkies and while they are sweet and cuddly and cute, they are extremely jealous and attached to me. They have never gotten snippy or nasty with me or DH, but I am going to buy a doll and carry it around with me and see how they react. I think they instinctively know I am pregnant (if that makes sense) b/c my one dog chloe, who is also my "princess" has been laying on top of my belly lately and constantly in my face wanting kisses. Chances are your dog may know something is different, soemthing is changing and just be a little jealous like all children are when they find out they are getting a new brother or sister and realize they wont be getting 100% of mommy and daddy's attention.l

Thank you very much, everyone, for your great advice.

I called a dog trainer yesterday and we have an appointment for next week. DH and I were sad at first because we felt like we "messed up" with Emmie, are we going to mess up with the baby too?

But now that we talked about it we are really excited to get started. the trainer said that from what I was describing, it sounds as if Emmie has a lot of nervous tension...which I can definatley see in her actions. Maybe she senses all the change and stuff but we are going to work on correcting it. We also came to realize last night that she is not a "bad" dog. We need to read her body language and we need to establish rules. Once we have rules set in place, she will be so good. She really is a good dog, she just thinks she owns us. Which won't be good when the baby comes.

Thank you for all the hugs, I really needed them. I stopped ignoring Emmie and she apologized to me (the trainer told me what she would do which in her language would be aplogizing, and she did just what he said she would). I will keep everyone posted on Emmie's progress.

he said that I should bend down and call her over. When she's ready, she will come to me with her ears back. If she doesn't come to me, not to go to her but to walk away and play hard to get. he said I should keep trying and if she doesn't come when I call her, she will come to me on her own terms but will have her ears back and her tail down. That's when I should pet her. As I pet her, tell her to sit and roll her over to her belly and her ears would stay back.

this is exactly what I did and she reacted exactly how he said she would. I had to walk away 3 times and after the third time, I came back in the room and sat down and she came right to me with her ears back.

Awh, she feels bad, she didn't mean to bite you......she wants forgiveness
