Rachel, I had an unexpected c-section and it was not bad at all. I was told I might need one the night before I was induced. I was so upset and felt like I would be missing out on something, but I was wrong. In the end I had my little girl and it did not matter how she came into the world. You will be fine and so will Ava. Good luck on Monday!!!!

Thanks everyone. I think the shock has finally passed. We just weren't expecting to hear that today, y'know?
But when it comes down to it, whatever is the best thing for the baby is the right thing, and I know that there's really no other options at this point. And not for nothing, now I know I'll be a mommy on Monday!
I just think the thing I'm most scared of is the fact that I'll be awake while they basically do surgery on me. That really freaks me out, but I'll get over it.
It's just so funny how this whole pregnancy, she was laying so low and looked like she was going to drop out of me, and NOW she decides to move in the wrong direction! For the first time, I'm actually carrying high! Go figure!

So sorry that it will not go as you planned. But that is great news that you will see your baby  Monday.
The c-section is not bad at all. I was so scared but it was over nothing and my recovery has been great. I was fine as soon as I got home from the hospital. It just stinks not being able to drive but other then that it has been great.
Hang in there. She is almost here

Rachel I'm in a very similar situation. Tomorrow basically the make or break appt. This little one just has refused to turn!!!! I'm nervous about surgery too - I've never spent a night in hospital in my life -now surgery. Everyone tells me its not bad - just sore for a few weeks - but bearable. Oh well at least it will be quick!

Of course you are scared that is VERY normal!!!
you can ask your doctor to explain everything and discuss how things will go that day. Also, you can request a few things to help your day go easier..discuss music that you might want played, request not to have your arms tied down- this was VERY important to me but might not matter to you, request that the baby stay with you in recovery, discuss pain meds, discuss other things that are important to you personally such as the discussion in the OR or how this is your first surgery.
You are allowed to feel upset or that you are missing something. That is not weird or unfair to the baby. You can love your baby and NOT want major surgery.

Oh Rachel I am so, so sorry. I know it really stinks but like you said at least you get to meet her in less than a week.
Even though they said it's hopeless for her to turn I think turning vibes for you.

Thanks for all the well-wishes, girls! On our way home from the doctor before, JT said something really cute to me. He said, "Well, I'm glad that when we go home, you can go on LIF and get the support you need. I know nothing about this stuff, so I'm glad you can go talk to other girls who do."
I thought that was so cute because he NEVER says anything about LIF other than to laugh, so he sends his thanks to all of you, too

My SIL and best friend both had c-sections and said they were in pain for about 2 days and it was not excruciating. everyone is different. When I am scared about something like flying for instance I will think about how many millions of people do it and I calm myself down that way. Maybe that will help you? Good luck
