I have heard this before. I used to have them in my house and when I heard I took them all out.

I hope she recovers quickly. A firefighter friend of my husband told him not to use any plug in air freshener of any kind. He says the FD gets calls all the time to fires started by those things.

that is so sad. Dh hates those things, we had a few but got rid of them because they had a burning smell after a while.

I am not sure about fires but the glade plug ins were tripping my circuit breakers (home is only 8 years old) and shorted out my outlets. They also left a discolored streak above each outlet where a unit was plugged in. something is definately nor right with the product. It is weird because I have used them since they first came out and have never had a problem. The ones I used were just the regular plug ins not the oil ones, the night lights or extra outlets ones. Sorry to hear about your friend but I do believe a fire could start from tehm especially if wiring is bad, or the house is an older one that uses fuses instead of circuit breakers. I think SC Johnson should be doing something about this problem or maybe the fire investigators should ask if glsde plug ins were in use. Jean

my friends house too went up because of them! i will never use them and when i see a friend or family with them i rip them out of the walls and throw them out! i hope she pulls out!
Yeah I use the battery operated ones now. they do not smell as strong but I feel much safer about it
