Why on earth would you wear the same outfit EVERY DAY?

We have some new temps at my job....this one guy has been wearing the SAME OUTFIT every day since last Monday when he started. I am not even exaggerating! The same faded blue sweathsirt (used to be purple) with the same Colorado logo and the same brown jeans that now look light grey and enbd jst above his ankles with the brown penny loafers.
I am sorry...I understand being down in the dumps and not having money for clothes, but I find it hard to believe that this guy doesnt have another sweatshirt to wear to work!

what kinda job does he do? i notice guys who work and get dirty, wear the same outfit alot so they dont ruin their clothes

I work in an office...6 floors...corporate headquarters for CA....

Please!!!...We used to have a girl here who wore the same pair of pants every day for a whole week. I would assume she washed them on the weekend but Give me a break!! You can't afford another pair of pants?!

I teach children with autistic spectrum disorders. They often wear the same clothes everyday. I am not saying he is a high fucntioning person with autism as I am not a diagnostician, but you never know. He may also have OCD. Anything is possible

I thought I only had that guy at my job. This guy travels in every week from Cleveland only wears one outfit all week, the first clue is that he doesn't bring a suitcase with him only a laptop bag with changes of underwear, glad he changes those at least.

nope, they are DEFINITELY the same pants. They end above his ankles...and they are missing the label in the back cause there's a patch where it used to be.
I feel bad for even posting this...the poor guy might not be making enough for a new outfit....but it's just bizarre....even a hobo can own more than 1 sweathsirt!

I have actually been thinking about this post and debating whether to respond or not. We recently had a fire in our home(our laundry room) Unfortunately I lost every pair of pants I owned except for 2 casual pants and work clothes-suits etc. I have been trading between my jeans and black pants for 2 weeks now. I was recently laid off from my job and unfortunately the money I am getting from unemployment is paying for bills. Sooooo I have to say I hope no one is judging me like this. You never know what is going on in someone's life.

When I was in Junion High there was a teacher we the kids thought was wearing the same pants over and over again...so someone got the bright idea to put a pen mark on his butt...and it was there again the next day...because he was wearing the same damn pants

I used to work with a woman like this - she was in her 70's and would wear the same outfit - shirt, pants, etc - for a week straight at a time. The next week she would come in with a different outfit and wear that one 5 days in a row. They were also all solid colors, so we would begin to refer to them as her Blue outfit or her maroon outfit!

ETA: Melijane, I'm sure no one is judging you! and I hope things get better soon. I think there's a big difference in even alternating two pairs of pants! I know the woman I used to work with had some money - she was extremely frugal, but had worked at our company for years, was decently paid and lived in rent controlled apartment in Stuyvesant Town for 25 years! Plus one of our colleagues used to give her Lord & Taylor gift certificates each Christmas!

Sounds like my fiance! He wears the same pants everyday b/c he works in a warehouse and gets very dirty. I make sure they get washed, though!

Well I got a job today!!!! So I'll be able to buy one more pair of casual pants soon

I do have pants but it would look kind of weird to wear suit pants with a jersey T!

I was just making a statement that no one knows what is going on in others lives so we should take it easy on other people, no offense intended

I dont think its a big deal. Now if they smelled then theres a problem.

I would probably have the same initial reaction as you when seeing someone wearing the same outfit for so long.

But after everyone puts it into perspective, you do have to wonder if something is not stable mentally or whatever else the case may be. and the fact that he's married, usually the wife will NOT allow this

If he really needed clothes, maybe a clothing collection could be started at work? that might be totally awkward though. Does anyone know him personally outside of work?

touchy situation.... Ive worked places where people have left notes for others to wear deodorant, etc. very toucy subjects...

he's married and his wife allows this? that is very strange!

this thread reminds me of something. when I was in grade school, I once wore the same top twice in one week (who knows why, I was a kid) and the kids were relentless. I will never forget how they taunted me
