No flames from me.. I totally agree!
But I think that a LOT of the boards are under-utilized on this site.. I mean even FHF is kind of dead. So is the travel board!
People post where there is the most traffic, which is here on NFR
It was the same problem on LIWs.. NWR got all the action and the other boards went dead

why does anyone use the wrong board??  That is the aged old question!! People say, because this board gets more traffic...but if you post it on the correct board...they will come and read it!!

ok I get the feeling this is somewhat aimed at me...so here is my answer....
Because for me -I found myself in a somewhat urgent situation - I didn't want to wait 4 days for an answer - I trust everyones opinions here and really, I wanted some advice right away.
That's just my 2cents.

I dont think it was aimed at anyone in particular...and not necessarily just about the Pets board either...its all the posts that should be posted on a particular board that are posted on this board...

its not aimed at you MrsR, although yes i noticed you dont use the pets board. but it wasnt for you. you arent the only one.
point is this.... if we NEVER post on PETS we will NEVERget traffic there.
if you want an immediate answer at LEAST crosspost. at least get it on PETS too. its a start to get that board going.
on LIW teh pets board was always good. here its lame b/c no one wants to use it.
eta: Lisa is 100% right. not aimed at anyone and this DOES actually petain to all unused boards.

I do not think Lolita or anyone was directing anything at any ONE person.. I think that maybe lately the "Pets" posts are standing out more than other topics .. but its not just a pets board problem, its a LOT of the other boards.. again, as I said - the travel board was BEGGED for and now NOONE uses it!
as you said , this problem with cross-posting or posting in the wrong forum has been going on FOREVER.. and always the excuse is that this board gets the most traffic.. yet the only way to create more 'traffic' on a board is to POST those questions in the right place! So its like a vicious circle 
The funny part is that I just don't quite get why it should be as big a problem as it is .. this site and LIWs are pretty much the only website/chat boards that seem to HAVE such problems with posting in the wrong places and under-utilizing certain forums!!
Oh well, we aren't going to solve this problem today either

The same people that demand that we have more boards for just about every subject out there...
... are the same annoying people that will cross-post a thread in three different forums on this site... as well as a few on LIW!
If I look down the threads here... at least half of them are also on LIW.

Sometimes it can be confusing if a situation falls into more than one category. Like I posted a rant about my neighbors and their dogs. But I felt it was more about my aggravation over irresponsible people than about pets. Maybe some would say it did belong on the pet board.
But I do totally believe that urgent things, situations where you need quick info, should go on the boards where there is more traffic. Does anyone ever think, Hm, let me look at the pet board in case someone is having some sort of animal crisis? I know I don't.

If your pet needs immediate care and its that much of a crisis... you should go to your nearest animal hospital. Not type up something on an internet forum.

If you get annoyed about something like this than maybe you should do something more useful with your time I cant stand when you people try to pick on others over NOTHING...if you dont like what they post than ignore it (that may be a bit more common sense than you have though). JMO...but you dont need to start threads like this...because you are only looking for trouble when you do so and I know thats what you are looking for anyways

First of all it is not a fake name...it is the ONLY screen name I have for this website. I am visiting my sister from OOS (out of state ) and she is always on here and I have been watching what trouble makers some of you are. My sister said this is a "helpful" site...and how nice people are. I watch you pick on people for posting a topic on the wrong bored...grow up she needed help! I dont understand why you get your undies in such a knot that you would have this post COMMON SENSE...IF YOU DONT LIKE A POST THAN IGNORE....maybe that is to hard for you to do. Starting a thread like this just labels you Internet Instigator all you are looking for is trouble!! Now that is not very nice...is it?
