Re: omg say prayers for london!

They are stating that at least 40 people were killed and over 334 injuries. It was rush hour when it happened. A terrorist group that is claiming responsibility is allied with Al-Qaida. It's so scary to know that we have to worry about terrorism attacks. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

This is also due to the G8 Summit.

The group that claimed responsibilities said that Italy and some other country, forgot the name are next if they don't pull their troops out.

Italy and Denmark.

I leave for Italy on Tuesday, for 10 days. Our whole trip is based on public transportation. I'm trying not to let it get to me.

My Aunt is on her way to Rome tomorrow. She has already called her hotel to try & see if there is a way to schedule car services - just in case.

Re: omg say prayers for london!

My parents are going to Italy Sunday for 45 days! They are not going to rome, they'll be in Sicily. But still you never know where these creepos will hit.

My guess would be Rome though, most popular city and a major public transportation hub.

Honestly, now is probably the safest times to travel. Security is going to be so tight everywhere. They tend to hit when no one is expecting it. Have a great trip and don't let it get to you, that's what they want Chat Icon

I agree with this - I know that the fear of traveling overseas is huge , but I think that you will actually be safer traveling in light of this turn of events than if it hadn't happened - sad , but true

I speak from experience - I had a trip planned with my girlfriends to Paris and London in November of 2001 -- and when 9/11 hit my first instinct was to cancel. While I was very tempted, I just decided I was not going to let the fear stop me from going on a trip I'd planned for a year - and even given the really hightened security back then, the trip was wonderful and I actually felt SAFER

I would definitely go and enjoy the trip Nicole - I know how terrifying its going to feel, I was shaking when I was on my flight to Europe back then - BUT we cannot let the fear prevent us from doing what we always do!

Sad but very true. This is the world we live in now and it's our future.

I heard they closed down penn sta. to check things out I guess for precautions.

It's gonna happen in new york, the question is when? They are waiting to catch us with our pants down, just like they did on 911.

you don't think we're more secure now than we were then? I don't really know, 'cause I live in my suffolk county bubble, but I would imagine that it's safer now than it was 9/10/01.
