Prune juice question
DS has not gone to the bathroom in 3 days. This happened about a month ago and the ped told us to give him an infant suppository. This time the ped wants us to try prune juice first. She suggested 1 oz prune juice, with 1 oz water tonight and tomorrow morning. Then if it didn't work, we will try the suppository tomorrow night.
My question: For those who have had to use prune juice, does it work? If so, how long did it take? Do you have any negative comments about giving prune juice?
TIA

Re: Prune juice question
I had to give it to Grace when we started to supplement with formula and YES it worked. She was constipated for two days. GOOD GOD the poo was ALL over the place!

Re: Prune juice question
It took about an hour to work for sara. I have a question about the suppository though. Did you use an entire child one or did you find infant ones?

Re: Prune juice question
My bottle said infant/child. The first time I used half and for the second time, the ped said to use a whole one.
we gave him the prune juice at 4:30 and nothing yet. I feel so bad for him!

Re: Prune juice question
I give Nicholas prune juice alot also. He gets 1 oz of prune juice mixed with his formula bottle. It usually takes until the next day for him to poop
Good Luck!.

MAy sound gross, but have you tried to take his temp rectally? With Gracie's virus I have to take her temp every 4 hours and each time I do...well, lets just say your DS won't be constipated for long.

Re: Prune juice question
We tried that the last time he wasn't pooping and it didn't work, but thanks for the suggestion. According to the doc, he is not constipated, just having a hard time going. He's eating so much and I don't know where it's going!
