What do you think of this? Etiquette question.

I went to the Green Day concert a few weeks back. My friend from work begged me to come with her and although I like GD, I am not a huge huge fan, but I agreed to go and I paid for my ticket. Well, it was at Giants Stadium and I live in NJ. She lives in Brooklyn. So the day of the concert, I took off from work (vacation) and I asked her if she would meet me at my house in NJ and then we could drive there together. So, she paid for her train ticket ($8). On the way there, I had to stop for gas - the total came to $54 (I have a Jeep). She did not give me any $ towards gas. We sat in traffic the whole way there. Took us 2 hrs to get there. Then, at the stadium, I had to park and I paid $15 for parking. She did not give me any $.

Am I wrong in thinking she should have gave me $ towards gas and parking? Even it was a little?

I would have offered you $20 for gas and paid for parking just because you did me the favor of driving. JMO

I think she should have offered to pay for parking at the VERY LEAST.

I would've paid the parking, too. I don't usually give people gas money, but I'll pay for the "extras" like parking, or maybe a beer/soda at the game/concert we're going to.

Re: What do you think of this? Etiquette question.

I would have insisted for you to take my money for parking and I would have probably given you about half of the money you paid for gas.

At the very least I would have paid for parking. I probably would have also bought stuff at the concert & split the gas.

Since you drove, I would definitely give you $$ towards gas and parking.

I definitely would have paid for the parking at least - and maybe gave 5 or 10 for the gas. That is so rude - she got a free ride to the concert!

Re: What do you think of this? Etiquette question.

I would have offered to contribute to both. I had a friend that never offers and it really pisses me off!!! I think any adult with half a brain should realize that contributing is the right thing to do.

I would have contributed to the parking.

Or at the very MINIMUM... I would have bought you some food and drinks at the concert.

I would have either given you gas money or paid for parking. Out of courtesy.
