Re: Poll: Those who had babies w/in the past year or so

I haven't had the baby just yet, but I just wanted to share why I am being induced, since i just posted today about my induction tomorrow.

I do agree, I do think dr's put extra pressure on women to sched a birth. I know my office does this since there are 6 dr's and women want to make sure they have their own dr there for the birth.

My plan was to go into labor naturally, but several factors brought me to my decision.

Several sono's have revealed she's big!
And yes, my dr kept giving me the option of induction, and being so uncomfortable, i haven't slept in 2 weeks, and being 3 days away from my EDD I opted for it. I honestly feel that I would go late and have to do an induction anways since it's taking sooo long for my body to do anything! My dr's office doesn't let pg's go past 41-41 1/2 weeks.
there are some other reasons, but those i need to keep out of a public forum.

I know I am intruding on this post, but I felt like I had too respond.

Re: Poll: Those who had babies w/in the past year or so

Interesting reading others stories. My dd was measuring big from my sonograms and the radiologic technicians encouraged me to talk to my doc about a c-section or at least inducing early because she was measuring big and I am of average height and weight. My doctor saw no reason to schedule anything because he kept on telling me that he has had smaller women then me deliver big babies. When I was past my due date and still not dilating he decided to schedule an induction. After 12 hours with cervidal and still no dilation they decided to go c-section. DD was 9'10oz and they then said I would not have been able to deliver any other way.

I had a scheduled induction before my due date and ended up getting a C-section, but only because of the cholestasis. Unfortunately, my Dr. won't let me get a VBAC this time around. I really wanted to try on my own. Chat Icon

You're not intruding at all. Chat Icon Actually your post was what got me thinking about how many scheduled births there were on here lately. So I'm glad you replied and I was even considering cross posting on PG to get the preggos that may already know that their births will be scheduled b/c they are having twins, a medical condition, etc.

My Drs office also doesn't let you go past 41 weeks but I had to fight them just to go that far since they wanted to induce me before my due date.

Just to be clear - this thread is not about judging anyone for their decision or their Drs decision to have a scheduled induction/c-section. I don't want anyone to feel like they have to "defend" why their induction/c-section was scheduled. Everyone has different reasons and medical conditions. I was just wondering if there was a trend lately.

Anyway, apparently the trend is still going into labor on your own, at least on these boards. Chat Icon

My water broke 11 days after my due date and I delivered 10 hours later by c-section.

Oh I so dont' feel judged for my decisionChat Icon Chat Icon

I hope I didn't come off defensive-I soo don't mean it like that at all.

Honestly as long as she gets here healthy and happy, I know for me it really doesn't matter how she comes.

I do def feel I prob would have went naturally if my dr had not given me the option at every dr's appt for the last 3 weeks. They admitted to me they do inductions more than the national avg since they are such a large practice and most women want their dr to deliver their babies.

I am glad though most had the strength to wait it out and go natural.
